The project involved designing an illustrated book cover for a post-apocalyptic adventure featuring an elderly couple, heavily armed, traveling through a monster-infested land with their loyal dog. The client envisioned a pickup truck driving down an empty road at night. I proposed a cinematic-style composition highlighting the protagonists, as characters are the essence of any story. Capturing their personalities and expressions helps readers connect with them and introduces the narrative clearly by focusing on the heroes. The client requested the monsters remain unseen, favoring an atmosphere of quiet tension and anticipation. This created a suspenseful, intimate portrayal of unlikely road warriors. For the illustration style, I chose a semi-realistic painted approach that suits the genre well. It allows expressive character and mood definition without excessive detail and evokes the feel of a comic book cover, complementing the action-adventure theme perfectly.
