Logo design for Best Beer Japan - online seller of unique Japanese craft beer

The concept has been inspired by Maneki-neko, a common Japanese figurine which is often believed to bring good luck to the owner. The orginal maneki-neko holds a koban, a Japanese oval gold coin. In my design, the cat has a more realistic appearance and holds a modern version of koban: a beer caps with BBJ monogram. The color palette is reduced to red, black and white which are essential colours of Japan.

Eclipse Martial Arts

Emblem designed for a new martial arts school rooted in Japanese Karate and Ju-Jitsu methods of close combat. The name Eclipse was chosen with concepts of light/dark, circular/round and yin/yang in mind. The name as well as visuals were to embody the aspect of "the point where two objects meet/touch". Laid out in a traditional Japanese crest form ("mon"), the logo abstractly symbolizes these concepts as well as a natural flow and movement of limbs and forces in these martial arts. Countering the traditionalist symbolism, typographic treatment brings some of the contemporary sports spirit into the logo.

Matsukasa Logo

Logo is for a premium brand of pet products sourced from Japan. Matsukasa is the Japanese word for pinecone. Since much of the planned market is within Asia I focused on the Japanese characters 松毬 in a stylized layout within a minimal cone-shaped oval to suggest pinecone. The logomark can be used alone as if it is a stamp seal. The color is based on the traditional Japanese red color called "Ake".

Mugen Logo

Why a Stag imagery on for Japanese Ramen restaurant logo you ask? oh, think of it, most of ramen restaurant logo on your city is bowl and noodle silhouette. Isn't that boring? :p we need to jump out of the boring box! The restaurant is located on Portland Oregon, which is known for it's white Stag, so I came up with the idea to incorporate Portland, noodle and Japanese vibe into one single logo. A negative space of a stag with noodle horn on abstract Japanese ink wash (Ensō) background will do the work, with mugen kanji strokes to emphasize on Japanese vibe. A lot more Simple iconic and memorable than just bowl and noodle right? :)

I created this logo for a real estate and asset management company based in Japan. The main element is the Japanese style roof, which reinforces the Japanese culture and architecture as well as the real estate aspect. Bars bellow it communicate the asset management and growth. The logo is designed like a Japanese stamp seal. I made stylized crane that is also shaped like a stem and leaves of the tea plant. The word "tea" is made like a stamp seal and the letters are arranged vertically to resemble Japanese lettering. This way, both the icon and the lettering part could be used separately keeping clear association to Japan and tea related business. SOLD!
