After a bit of TLC, design I made years ago found its home with already established music producer looking for a rebrand. The force of directing is strong in this music conductor, minimalistic and simple, yet bearing a tons of character. Paired with modern lettering and rocking the monochrome colorway, logo is able not only to carry a music producing brand but also to work great in fields of consulting and publishing, where client plans to expand in the future.

Rhythmic mark for Ikeen Productions

The client — Jazz pianist and vocalist Neeki Bey — contacted me to work with him directly. Running with intuition, the mark I arrived to aims to convey the spirit and feeling of music. Harmony, sensibility, soul. Folds, peaks and lulls, the line art is matched carefully with a subtle mid-contrast typeface. The events Ikeen produces are centred around highly talented musicians, so I wanted to lean towards classic, but remain contemporary and approachable. The company is also branching out into events production in general. While the mark is intended to evoke the flow of music, it is oblique enough to serve its purpose relative to a wide range of events.

Primary mark for Justlikeu electronic music project

"Justlikeu" is a new project for an artist and producer of electronic music. Disenchanted with the mainstream electronic music scene, this artist with worldwide exposure wanted to go deeper, to produce a more authentic music and experience, centred around universal themes that touch us all. This project ran for almost two months. We considered over 70 symbols and logomarks. In the end, we returned to the first symbol I created: the incomplete circle. A wholeness that is missing, the symbol represents the struggle we have to find ourselves in the world and to understand ourselves. I wanted to say that we all have something missing, and in this we share a deeper solidarity, one we find reflected in others. We help each other to fill in the gaps, to reach acceptance, and we move forward together, imperfect though we may be. The artwork here is custom made generative art, created by manipulating source images with Javascript in Processing app.

They pride themselves with their larger than life ideas. Although they are a small company, they love taking on big challenges. I came up using a light bulb with beanstalk (from the fairy tale "Jack & The Beanstalk") growing inside and breaking out. I'm trying to convey the message that the company is overwhelming with creativity and big thinking. This was so much fun to design from sketch up to the final render. :-)

Client wanted a logo to promote a Christian based Event Productions venture. They were very specific in the elements they wanted to showcase: The initials J & B needed to be prominent, a Cross to signify their faith and the words Events Productions. I custom made the Initials in block form and decided to use negative space for the cross. The client was most delighted when I added the crown on top of the negative space cross.
