The contest presented some challenges, particularly when my initial idea of a pop-up die-cut on the header was rejected due to the Contest Holder's budget constraints on printing. However, after making the requested modifications, the Contest Holder expressed their liking for the revised design, with only a few minor revisions needed. I'm grateful for being awarded in this contest.

Hugh’s Hot Bowls is a black-owned business committed to providing accessible nutritious plant-based meals inspired by Los Angeles street food for the Crenshaw District Community and beyond. Hugh’s Hot Bowls was founded by Hugh Augustine in 2020 because of his love for community. He started cooking in catering kitchens as a young boy through his mother’s business. His grandmother was one of the first black women to get involved in Los Angeles politics in the 1980s running for city council and setting the tone for the family’s legacy in community organizing. This ignited a fire under Hugh to always share with the community through music and food.
