80s Inspired Restaurant Logo

Restaurant sought logo inspired by 80s California surf/skate design. Upon reading the brief I researched 80s design specifically in California but quickly realized in order to capture the skate/surf culture feel I had to look at streetwear. I expanded on the reference materials provided with a moodboard featuring some gnarly clothing designs. Ultimately I based my design on an 80s Snoopy shirt I inherited from my dad (which features Joe Cool holding a surfboard and the word "CALIFORNIA" in stenciled letters underneath) and the "Burly Gear" label on an 80s Stussy letterman jacket I found online. The font is of my own design; I hand-drew it in Photoshop and then traced it in Illustrator.
