Ceticismo Aberto
Overview
"CeticismoAberto" <http://www.ceticismoaberto.com> is the largest website in Portuguese about Aliens, Ghosts and the whole Paranormal enchillada, but with one important detail: we offer serious analysis emphasizing the need for critical evaluation of such claims. Our brand name means, afterall, "Open Skepticism" in Brazilian Portuguese, as part of the Skeptical Movement founded by figures such as Carl Sagan, Martin Gardner and Isaac Asimov.
Description of the organization and its target audience
CeticismoAberto targets a broad audience interested by the Paranormal, but without compromising a serious and down-to-earth approach. By default, the current audience is mostly male and in their 20-40s -- the "X-File" fans -- but we would also like to reach for a very broad audience, including the "New Age" group.
The rebranded logo will be immediately used in a renewed design for the website, as well as promotional items such as T-shirts, mugs, etc.

Requirements
We already have an established symbol which pleases us, a stylized question mark (see attached files).
The rebranded logo should ideally revisit the established symbol along with the brand name, perhaps integrating the question mark with a suggestion of the paranormal subject being evaluated.
The logo can be reasonably complex, but a simple logo which also manages to portray the idea of critically evaluating the claims of the paranormal is what we are thinking beforehand.
The logo ***must not*** be something simply suggesting a big theme of the paranormal -- for instance, an alien on a flying saucer. It *must* express the idea that such claim is being critically evaluated. In fact, the critical evaluation is the most important idea, that's why the current symbol is a question mark.
Summary:
= We want a rebranded logo revisiting the current "question mark" symbol;
= The "CeticismoAberto" written in Arial font should probably be one of the first things to change;
= The logo should attract X-Files, New Age fans, while still suggesting the subject is explored with a twist;
= Brains, question marks, magnifying lenses are fine, but only if they look great!
= Aliens, monsters, ghosts may also be fine, but remember *we are skeptics*!!!
We will require a *vector design*, to be freely rescaled, as well as a layered PSD.
