- Brief Overview
- Dartmouth's graduate programs are small and selective and are designed to provide more flexibility than the professional Ph.D. program usually allows. Breadth within the discipline, significant teaching experience, and a broadly conceived research-thesis project are the basic elements in each of the programs. Research achievement is naturally the most fundamental aspect of the Ph.D. program, and the limited enrollment in each program ensures the student a close apprentice/colleague relationship with his or her research supervisor. Most students are expected to teach during part of their graduate career, and considerable emphasis is placed on carefully supervised teaching experience of increasing responsibility.

- Current and Prospective Graduate Students Media This Logo will serve as Dartmouth Graduate Studies' Logo.
- Requirements
- 1) The logo MUST be in theme (i.e., substantially similar in width, length, style, typeface, and general direction of the design) with the other logos of the graduate professional schools at Dartmouth. Please note that all these logos are in crest/shield style. Links to the graduate and professional schools can be found here: http://www.dartmouth.edu/home/academics/graduate_schools.html Dartmouth Medical School at: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Dartmouth_Medical_School_shield.svg Tuck at: http://www.flexfriendlyemployer.com/node/219/lightbox2 Thayer at: http://www.facebook.com/photo.php?pid=925994&id=18022343973&ref=fbx_album 2) The logo should not include words. All letters should go either under, above or on the side the logo where we can use the logo independently (i.e., without words). 3) The founding date of the Graduate Programs should be on the logo. We were founded in 1960. 4) The features inside should involve the river water wave present in the other three logos as two lines with two peaks, and might involve the current logo with a tree, but does not have to. 5) The logo must be single-color (green and white) in Dartmouth green*. Ultimately we would like to produce it in different colors, sometimes black and white and sometimes green and white. *The "official" Dartmouth color is Pantone Matching System (PMS) 349. On the web, it's expressed as #00693E; the CMYK equivalent is C93 M33 Y92 K25. If that's all too technical, the color commonly called "forest green" is the closest equivalent." 6) The logo is to represent Dartmouth as a long-standing and highly respected institution of higher learning. Please read up on Dartmouth history.
