N4G is social news site for gamers and one of the most visited gaming sites on the net. The concept behind the site is that gamers submit news articles from around the web, and as the news posts gets more attention they raise in temperature. The most popular news stories gets featured on the front page, and the hottest ones gets featured on the top of the site.
- Brand Name
- N4G
- Target Audience
-
People with a more than average interest in game and tech news.
- Requirements
-
To see how the site works visit the current site at http://www.n4g.com
It is highly recommended that you also read the info on http://www.n4g.com/Info/FAQ.aspx
The temperature system is the key site feature and a big part of the site brand.
When designing keep in mind that this is a site that people visit many times per day, so we don't want something that gets old after the third visit.
Design mockups should look as a functional website with content.
Try and design unique icons where needed.
We are looking for a design which feels complete and consistent, and that reflects that this is a popular news/community site. A clean and user-friendly design but still with personality that will do the N4G brand justice.
You can do something which captures the look and feel of the current N4G design, or you can try and go for a new look, it is up to you.
The final design will also form the design template for upcoming sister sites in other verticals. The winner will get the chance to do further work on N4G and these sister sites.

For wireframe see http://www.n4g.com/redesign/wireframe.png
IMPORTANT: The wireframe is only there to show what content and links should be on the site and how the navigation on the site works. When designing start from scratch. Icons, menus and buttons do not have to look like the ones in the wireframe.
