Working on three letter monogram is always a daunting task, so I love how this one turned out. Straight and blocky letters with uniform line thickness are merged and interconnected in such fashion that overall icon perfectly fits the square, and all letters are easily readable without putting too much strain on the eye. This compact icon paired with modern font, features bold black and red colors rounding this design as one timeless brand carrier.")

I like to create evocative marks that spur thought. Here in this mark I aim to bridge two worlds: the foundation of Christianity (the resurrection of Christ) and our contemporary moment, in a dynamic, fast-paced world. I construct an icon of a double cross that appears to be in forward movement. The double cross is also to hint towards community, or sisterhood and brotherhood. The design uses a contemporary style of subtle and sharp cut shadows, to give dimensionality and an air of mystery. Overall, I wanted to convey supreme elegance, with an element of edginess that would appeal to a contemporary youth audience, while also traditional. A forward movement on solid foundations. The double cross also reinforces St. Teresa, in constituting a “T,\" giving a particular anchor to a traditional icon of the Catholic Church. A bold and confident mark.")

The color palette includes fresh sky notes with an orange accent.
Brandmark is paired with a modified contemporary geometric sans serif typeface that tries to convey a technological/futuristic feeling while keeping an elegant design.")

I find the history of the labyrinth to be deeply fascinating. Labyrinths were often placed in the environs of cathedrals, and on the flyleaves of scriptural manuscripts, representing a passageway from the profane to the sacred. The labyrinth was an encounter, representing both potential and danger. In Greek mythology, the minotaur resided at the centre: half-bull, half-man, this archetype was allegorical of man's journey into himself. When Theseus slays the minotaur, it represents the taming of the unruly in the domain of men. Which in itself is its own tragedy. In this design I respond to the idea of the encounter, and our bearing towards the labyrinth. I create a timeless face: the man armed with reason who is facing his monsters. Sadly I was passed over in this contest, which I regret because I would have loved to have worked on this project. It's nature fits me completely.")

Admittedly difficult for real world use: it needs space. But it’s so accurate. Some may see nothing. But know its intent, and take away the word. It’s there. I see silence and the first primary movements of time.")

On first sight, it seemed a very straightforward project. But beauty is not straightforward, and unique isn't either. It took considerable time to carefully arrive to this mark. The craft is in the detail of the lines and the curves and the balance and harmony achieved through subtle differences in weighting across the mark. The mark also uses negative space to create dimension and uniqueness.")

While elaborate, I wanted the mark to also be simple, so the negative space is given room to breathe, suggesting a landscape beyond, and perhaps a fresh beginning.")

I set my mind to journey, back through so many pathways, to the centre of the labyrinth of Christianity. Along the way, the jolts informed the mark. It is cut. Like the body of the Christ was cut. In one part, it ascends. Like the body of the Christ ascended. It looks outward. Across a landscape. Across history. It draws the viewer to interpret. To understand. And beyond these characteristics, it is silent and permanent.")
