I had to design something along upward/growth theme so my decision was to design \"summiting a mountain\" themed logo. I had to make it unique as there are plenty of mountain logos so ended up with clean and simple logo conveying modern and welcoming personality. I think I managed to demonstrate professionalism and fresh thinking, but with a playful side. Client was extremely satisfied with my efforts to show this design various branding possibilities. The concept is a combination of compass, ship wheel, and eye (Oculus). The logo will be used on apparel for the staff and the family, and possibly on the mainsail of the ship. The name of the ship is Oculus, that it represents the hole in the top of the dome of the Pantheon (in Rome) which is the way light streams into the structure. Oculus also means eye in Latin. Paired with a clear modern font, this logo left both me and client happy with the outcome.")

Because flight and birds in general symbolize development, vertical evolution and freedom, the eagle in particular symbolizes wisdom, guidance and strength, it embodies the mission statement of the center. I wanted the overall feel to be inviting and warm, not \"aggressive\", this is why I thought it is important for the eagle to have a more \"friendly\" and softer appearance, but still be patriotic and majestic.
