Background information
Organization name
World Unite!
Description of the organization and its target audience
We are a company active in the segment of educational travel. As our company name ("World Unite!") indicates, our aim is to achieve that our international travel experiences result in cultural exchange, cultural learning, curiousity and understanding for each other and thus that "the world unites". We want to inspire people to find meaning and positive change in their lives by joining our programs and leave a (little) positive impact for our planet through their program participation.
Keywords that our brand stands for include:
inspirational/inspiring
open-minded
artful, playful, creative, outside-the-box thinking, innovative, free spirit
aware, conscious
ecofriendly, "eco-hip"
cooperative, social, solidary, unifying
honest, unpretentious, humble, fair
Also we want to get more involved in activism (animal rights, human rights, environment) independent from travel activities, because these are important issues to us.
Target group: Mostly aged 16-30, high school students+graduates; college/university students+graduates; but also open-minded, proactive individualists of any age up to retirement age, mostly from Europe, North America and Australia/New Zealand).

Style/theme ideas
The current website design is from 2013 and looks outdated. For our new website, we don't only need a more contemporary layout, but the whole visual identity must be reworked to better reflect the values that our brand/company stands for (see above in company description). We expect a comprehensive makeover.
So for the designer it is not advised/necessary to stick to the "feeling"/colour scheme/fonts/image style etc. of the old website, but the designer has creative freedom to come up with new ideas that better reflect our above mentioned values.
Many websites of competitors look somehow "the same" without a distinctive appearance/look. When browsing several competitor's websites, it is hard to remember them. Our new website should ideally have a strong visual identity of its own that makes it stand out from our competitors' websites and that is easy to remember and identify. We are happy if the designer is confident to come up with a strong distinct design that is not too much "mainstream", however the website should of course still be appealing to mainstream customers that should identify with/aspire for our values.
[Addition to the briefing: I got some first designs handed in, which are all much too close to the old website. As I wrote, we want a completely new design, which is really innovative and DIFFERENT. Please be creative and radical to a certain point. Maybe don't even look at our old website not to be too influenced by it! Thank you!]
[Another addition: Also, don't be too much influenced by the "boxed" layout I did in the PDF. The page doesn't have to look exactly like this in terms of layout/sizes etc.. It is just to communicate to you the important content elements we want on each page].
As we are still selling a "travel product" to mostly warm, southern countries, further keywords that the design should reflect include:
brightness, warmth, joy, positivity, fun, light, elegant
Inspirational websites
Content details
Page descriptions
Please see the PDF that I upload for details. The 4 pages to be designed by designer:
* Homepage (see PDF page 1)
* About page (see PDF page 2)
* Article/landing page (see PDF page 3); please make example page "Mother Nature Camps" Landing Page
* Product page of online shop (see PDF page 4)
Before working on all 4 pages, the designer can submit one of them or a part of it to discuss the style with us.
What to avoid
Current colour scheme of very strong orange and green does not have to be continued.
Navigation:
As we have a lot of contents, I suggest the following navigation (if you think you have a better idea, please let me know):
The top main menu should be horizontally aligned on wider screens and only have top-level menu entries (no drop-down or megamenu). For mobile phones, this changes to a burger menu opening a vertical top menu.
The top level entries are:
* Home -> click loads the homepage (page to be designed, see PDF page 1)
* About -> click loads the "About us page" (page to be designed, see PDF page 2)
* All Programs -> click loads the online shop front (probably J2 Store). This shop front does not need to be designed (comes out of the box and our programmer will style colours and fonts of this matching the designs of the pages you design)
* Destinations -> click will open destinations overview page. This page will use the "Article/Landing Page Layout" (PDF page 3) including a categorised grid view of articles. (grid view does not specifically have to be designed by the designer).
* Blog -> Will display overview page blog contents. This page will use the "Article/Landing Page Layout" (PDF page 3) including a categorised grid view of articles. (grid view does not specifically have to be designed by the designer).

Other notes
The website will be fully responsive; the designer does not have to make designs for various screen sizes, but can just do the computer screen version and explain if necessary how the design is expected to adapt to smaller screen sizes.
Technical platform:
We are using Joomla with J2 Store for the ecommerce part. All recent technologies e.g. jquery, bootstrap, lightbox, parallax scrolling etc are fine to be implemented, the designer can explain the desired effects.
You can use any images from our website, facebook, instagram etc. If you need any particular images, please let me know and I will send.
I would prefer PSD files with layers. If you prefer to work with Figma or any other tool, please cooperate with us at the end to send the elements we need to code the template.
Coding etc. is not part of this project, I am just looking for a great design.
We will most likely ask the winning designer for more design work afterwards, e.g. making a design manual for Social Media and print contents.

Final files
You will be required to provide either a PNG or a JPG file. Please check with the client to see if they have a preference.
If you use fonts that require a license, confirm with the client they're ok with it. For licensing reasons, it is better to provide your client with information on how to acquire the font rather than providing the actual files.
