Community Reading Buddies

For 26 years, Community Reading Buddies has been mobilizing Bay Area high schoolers (Youth Mentors) to mentor younger students (Buddies) in literacy and ignite them with a passion for reading. In turn, the high schoolers are trained in social-emotional skills that prepare them to become successful, independent adults.

Community Reading Buddies is currently a program of Aspire Education and has been operating in Oakland for 26 years. We are completely reimagining our brand, starting with a new logo - and eventually leading to a standalone website + social media in the next 12 months.

Our new logo will set the tone for our branding work moving forward. We want a new look, new colors, new icon --- preferably no clipart and not using the same colors of our current logo.

We want a custom logo design (again, prefer not to use clipart) that visually communicates:

1) community (between our youth mentors and little buddies) +
2) reading/literacy +
3) growth.

While we are a youth serving organization, we do not want the logo to feel childlike; we desire a more modern and urban feel to the logo. I've have included a few screenshots from the internet to give some examples and ideas to begin working from.
