The story is about the intriguing influence that a small town in southwestern Italy has on four vacationing Americans.
My starting point was the map of Italy, used as a background where all the other “objects” are placed. The most challenging part of this decision was determining where each detail should appear, to keep the three most important locations visible: Venice, Rome and Ricigliano. The idea of the little pin flags to mark them made the design more real, but also clearer.
In addition to an image where the four characters are presented on a canvas, one of the requirements was to include the painting of “Fumo”, a Lucanian goat. In order to accurately represent this unique character, I did research on this specific breed.
The main image on the back is a detail of a real painting created by Anne Marie Cina, who granted permission to the author to include it on the cover.")

The bar is themed around the fictitious idea that the building was once an abandoned saw mill that turned into 2 bars. Sparx's and Mr. Hardwood's the two bars where mortal enemies until through unique circumstances they realized they had more in common than they knew. So instead of building walls to separate them, they destroyed the physical wall that separated the two bars and become 1 big happy family. The other thing client wanted the X in Sparx's to be unique, sort a logo in a logo. Its much cheaper to use just a unique X on merchandise and signs than the entire logo. So they was thinking the Sparx's X with something done to it so that it stands out on its on. Like a logo within a logo. Just want the X to be different than the rest of the font and be able to be instantly recognizable on its on.")

Therefore, the cover was designed taking this requirement into account, making it possible to have a paperback version when needed.
As the booklet is an addition to an existing book series, the design concept followed the same clock theme to represent “Time”. With meditation and inner reflection being the main purposes, I thought it made sense to display a clock where we could see the inner mechanism. It's like looking inside each person and seeing what they’ve improved by dedicating their time to these daily devotions.
The sun rising over the horizon represents each new day, as well as a new opportunity to deepen the knowledge of the Bible, no matter how busy life is. This is also the reason why I kept a very calm and peaceful look throughout the book. It invites to pause for a few minutes and helps to get into a meditative state of mind.")

After deciding on Green as the base color, the “environmental theme” immediately came to my mind. Thus, the motto of the 2024 design is: “By helping nature, nature will help people too.”
When Pros There employees follow sustainable and environmentally-friendly practices in their job, the company becomes a good place to work and with a better chance of a bright future.
With this idea in mind, and before starting the illustration, I did some research on a few of the emblematic wild animals in the State of Ohio, US (where the company is based). So, I included the white-tailed deer (State animal) and the cardinal (State bird), as well as the beaver to complete the composition.
As with the previous mugs, the illustration is repeated on both sides. This way people can have the same visualization by holding it with their right or left hand.")
