Traditional banks remain rooted in the logic of industrial capital, unable or unwilling to support ever greater numbers rooted in the digital economy. Those left out face financial insecurity, inability to access financial services, and difficulty to meet basic needs employers once covered.
Noumena is going to reinvent the bank. It's going to create ways for people to become their own banks. The holding company under which a number of brand products will be developed, its immediate target are savvy and forward-thinking investors.
Noumena in philosophy refers to the thing-in-itself: that which exists outside of, and precedes, perception. Making reference to this concept, the mark is an eye, constructed in such a way as to echo an N.
Minimalist and clean, the design aims to be approachable, and yet credible, crossing the boundary between the corporate and the humane.")

Frenetic, visceral and mysterious, I imagined the appearance of the wolf as a lightning strike: sudden, powerful and ominous.")

While elaborate, I wanted the mark to also be simple, so the negative space is given room to breathe, suggesting a landscape beyond, and perhaps a fresh beginning.")

The client was looking for something iconic, and mysterious. Enclave has the vibe of a secret society. Discovery for this project was quite long. We considered a number of marks and directions. Designing for web3 is not easy. No one really knows, yet, what it can be, and what it will be. Then the ground shifted, and this mark and custom wordmark appeared, and I knew this was it. At once both futuristic and contemporary, legible and yet unusual, the design has edge while at the same time it is at home in the amorphous ether that is the emerging metaverse.")

The craft is in the detail of the lines and the curves and the balance and harmony achieved through subtle differences in weighting across the mark. The mark also uses negative space to create dimension and uniqueness.")

But I like it, and didn't like the mark the agency had me recreate instead, so I'm showcasing this design though unused.
What interested me when this design emerged is that through a simple reference to the initial of Valera's first name, he could be associated with baseball, and in fact become an iconic representation of it, and synonymous with it.
The \"g\" is amended and becomes a figure swinging a bat, with a ball flying off top-right.
Valera himself is a very unassuming figure: humble, and soft-spoken. While the sport is surrounded by the hard edge of a standard sports aesthetic, this mark, while different, spoke more to his character while gently taking possession of baseball itself.")

In one part, it ascends. Like the body of the Christ ascended. It looks outward. Across a landscape. Across history. It draws the viewer to interpret. To understand. And beyond these characteristics, it is silent and permanent.")

The page is built in Wordpress with scalability in mind. It will be easy moving forward to grow Noumena's web presence beyond a landing page into a full-blown, multi-page site able to showcase its products, services and solutions.
In its initial stage of connecting with partners, the focus was on legibility of content. The work included custom graphics and illustration.
Through aggressive code optimisation, I was able to get the page to load below the key 2-second mark, with A-grade results in terms of best practices in web development.

Perhaps nowhere was this so obvious than in the violent ring of the coliseum. There existed a space of permission for man — otherwise to master his own impulses — to be animal. In battle, the gladiators often bore in the visage of animals. The mask was fundamental, not only for protection (the heavy helmet), but to allow the element of pure violence to be expressed. I'm not a gamer, but the phenomenon interests me, and echoes the coliseum in numerous ways. Masks are inherent to the gaming phenomenon, so I wanted to evoke this, and give it an air of mystery, and animality. As though that relation, between man and animal, in himself, is eternal. I wanted the mark to be bold, masculine, but also silent.")

To me — and as a counter-point to finger-snapping, upbeat, lockstep optimism — the digging up of this song from ancient history to accompany the destruction of humanity would represent infinite pathos, which is our best defense when kneeling before fate.")
