In battle, the gladiators often bore in the visage of animals. The mask was fundamental, not only for protection (the heavy helmet), but to allow the element of pure violence to be expressed. I'm not a gamer, but the phenomenon interests me, and echoes the coliseum in numerous ways. Masks are inherent to the gaming phenomenon, so I wanted to evoke this, and give it an air of mystery, and animality. As though that relation, between man and animal, in himself, is eternal. I wanted the mark to be bold, masculine, but also silent.")
