Surf bands tend to have some kind of kitsch. One band plays in fezs and smoking jackets. Another plays in lucha libre masks etc. We have chosen an Area 51/Michael Douglas in \"Falling Down\" look but we need to connect that back to the surf genre in our logo.

Upon reading the brief I researched 80s design specifically in California but quickly realized in order to capture the skate/surf culture feel I had to look at streetwear. I expanded on the reference materials provided with a moodboard featuring some gnarly clothing designs. Ultimately I based my design on an 80s Snoopy shirt I inherited from my dad (which features Joe Cool holding a surfboard and the word \"CALIFORNIA\" in stenciled letters underneath) and the \"Burly Gear\" label on an 80s Stussy letterman jacket I found online. The font is of my own design; I hand-drew it in Photoshop and then traced it in Illustrator.")
