Using just a series of strokes I created the stylized letter \"F.\" It's abstract in general but alludes to flames used forging in a fire. It also loosely resembles a 16th note. For the word-mark, I choose a type that integrated well, picking up both the vague fire and music symbolism with a little flame on the \"f\" and a serif-like musical glyph on the open-tailed \"g.\" I increased the tracking/spacing between the letters of \"forge,\" placing \"entertainment\" on one side of the g-tail and \"group\" on the other. To fix the Irradiation phenomenon, I decreased the stroke in the inverted version so that it matched weight optically.")

Joni Mitchell is known for using her own paintings and illustrative self-portraits as album art. It got me thinking what kind of clever smirkiness would relate to your target audience. I started rendering cover art in the style of vintage YA mystery/adventure novels. The digipak is perfect for this type of design since it opens like a book. I rendered 2 portraits as illustrative paintings and created a composite for the cover oval and cd label that was inspired by the songs/song titles. For the backgrounds, I used a paper texture then added some color for the covers and less saturation for the inside covers. I added slight grain as well as some cheap printed ink effects. I also created a logo for the publishing company (as most of these serials had at least one), and it added a little bit extra.")

Following your suggestions, I focused on a design that would work with the vintage sunburst, with or without the illustration and stand alone. I started with a cut-out type to make use of the filled in bowl counters. The hand-drawn style is more reminiscent of folk art in blues music traditions. the final steps included adding a distressed texture that alluded to a sweet potato skin and pulls from vintage stamp inked textures and paint in the aforementioned classic folk/blues art. Likewise, there are slight warm effects and rotations applied to each word such that grow and stretch to meet one another while remaining readable. The narrow length and width of each character enforced the idea of the name \"slim.\"")
