Games & Recreational
Guardians of Dawn is a larger Free Company (guild/community of players) on a popular MMORPG known as Final Fantasy XIV: Online. Our community initiatives revolve around most of the major "scenes" in the game including raiding, hunting, events, and roleplaying. We have a Discord audience of hundreds of daily active members along with a huge following beyond that. Our target audience is our current community and new players alike. We're looking to have a one-stop for news, connector promoting Discord usage and access, recruitment applications, raid static information, rules, and other free company information
dawn.gg (yes, it's new!)
I'd like to either follow one of two color schemes. We've got two variations of our Free Company logo: one darker and the other lighter. For the logo, I'm open to any types of edits for how the designer incorporates it into the site header. Whether you're open to slimming it down to just say "dawn" or w/e you decide is trendy. For the theme, I'd like to be consistent with colors as mentioned about. Neutrals is ideal, but I'm open to anything. I love simplistic/minimalist designs and smooth animation. It's really nice to navigate a full screen/mobile friendly interface. I'm also open to any ideas, so please feel free to run them my way. :) Please see our logos attached.
PAGE #1: LANDING PAGE 1. Free Company logo & navigation to other pages; navigation to include: About Us (drop down, but also clickable) > Leadership > Rules Apply to Dawn (drop down) > General Application > Raider (sends you to recruitment page) Media (just a click through to a media page) Raiding (drop down) > Teams (link to article we'll create for teams) > denotes a link under a drop-down or whatever the UI is decided for navigation. ---- 2. Join us on Discord and social media buttons to Facebook, Twitch, Instagram, Lodestone (see icon for this on navigation on ensemblefc.com) and YouTube. Emphasize joining our Discord is very important, but need not ruin the user experience. ---- 3. Latest News summaries with links off to the full article from the title of the article. It's important for our users to not have to scroll a lot (as in to the bottom of the page) to read latest news. ---- 4. I'd like to have a "we're recruiting" widget at the bottom similar to the "current vacancies" section Ensemble FC has. From time to time, we'll have just as many vacancies if not more and it'd be nice to stack them with the raid static name, blurb about the static, role (e.g. caster) and apply with icons each class and then their raid schedule below (this section would be a widget that is also a widget on a main recruiting page). PAGE #2: Media I'd like a page with integrated tiles to Instagram, Twitch and other social media that extracts meta information like hashtags and the post. But most importantly, displays our community screenshots in a really pretty manner as we integrate later. Example of those types of screenshots: https://www.facebook.com/Guardians-of-Dawn-351104428728752/ Page #3: Individual Article Pages inspiration: http://www.ensemblefc.com/news/0hp-clears-uwu-world-7th/ I love how they've done their news article themed pages. They've emboldened the post title, and put the date front and center. The FC logo has been made smaller as you navigate. It's really well done, and I'd like to devise a similar strategy for our posts. Page #4: Recruitment inspiration: http://www.ensemblefc.com/recruitment/ We definitely need a recruitment page oriented at boasting our success in raiding as a free company then listing our recruitment listings at the bottom in a widget that could ideally be used on the home page. I'd like a button that links off to an application "Apply to the Free Company"
What to avoid
Utilizing the brown(s) off of the logo as primary colors. I had a few questions re: that post-launching this contest, so I wanted to clarify
My goal here is to initially receive a beautiful website that we can build on together. The winner of this contest I'll end up likely using on future work, so it's important for me to find the right one. I'd like this relationship to go beyond this first project as we add new features. I myself am a Back End coder, so I'll be involved in the side of adding new features to the WP blog. However, the UI/HTML/CSS I'll be handing off to another individual. I'm open for how ya'll utilize our current logo on the website. Whether you slim down the "brand" to just Dawn - whatever ideas you have to fit in with the theme. I've attached a PSD for that purpose. For potential images (v.s. using too many stock images), since this will be a community oriented site - feel free to use any media out there related to Final Fantasy XIV Online. We'll include them in the copyright at the bottom of the page. Square Enix (the game company) welcomes use of their media and what-not. Therefore, we shouldn't need very many stock images (but please run them by me if you feel they're worth it in a specific spot)
