David273148 got their new web page design by running a design contest:
New website design wanted for Los Angeles Collaborative University
Check out David273148's Web page design contest…
LACU is an organization that seeks to reinvent graduate-level education by bringing serious students together to collaboratively study topics relating to the future of work. These topics are of two types: (1) technology-focused topics and (2) creativity-focused topics. LACU students will collaborate with each other to study these topics in 6-month long programs and in 2-day long symposia.

Home Page: This page will introduce LACU *emotionally*. It should be very simple, clean, elegant and should display the LACU slogan: “Reinventing Graduate Education” prominently and creatively. It should communicate collaboration, learning and hope for the future and should ideally also have elements relating to technology and creativity (LACU's topic areas). It should have a short paragraph of text, plus the basic social media links (Facebook, twitter, email, etc), plus a place for an email newsletter sign-up. 'Purpose' Page This is an important page. It will communicate the two reasons for LACU's existence:(1) reinventing graduate education, and (2) preparation for the future of work. Each of these reasons will be described in a short paragraph or two of text, and each will have a link to a detail page with more information. The key to this page is that is be extremely clean/simple/elegant so that the two key concepts can be communicated without distraction. 'List' Page (or 'Program/Symposia' page) This page will provide a brief overview of LACU's programs and/or symposia (about 6 of each), followed by a list of those programs/symposia. The list will be of paragraphs - each one having a title, a paragraph of text and perhaps a small image. Each item on the list will link through to a 'program page'. The 'list' page will also be reused for presenting lists of curriculum items (books, videos, etc) and perhaps lists of students. 'Program' page This page is almost a mini-homepage. It is the starting point for a specific program and it contains links to multiple detail pages with all of the resources about that program (program overview, curriculum, student list, program blog, etc). It would contain some descriptive text but would mostly serve to introduce and center the program. Detail page This page will be used for all of the miscellaneous pages on the LACU website - 'about', 'FAQ', 'Blog', etc as well as details linked from the purpose page and the program page. It should be fairly generic and functional, but suitable for easy customizing using color or images.
I am enclosing an 'EPS' file with the LACU logo. This logo is available in other formats if needed. I am enclosing a page layout diagram, in PDF format, that shows how I intend to use these 5 pages to assemble the site. The LACU web address is LACU.org Some things I'm trying to communicate generally: - Creativity, with technology - Professionalism, seriousness-of-purpose - Future-looking, hopeful, reinvention, seize-the-day - Collaboration, team-work, colleagues, friendships The target audience for the LACU website is primarily working professionals who are educated (including self-educated), curious, serious, informed and global in outlook. LACU students are intellectual, but pragmatic. They like conversation and long, thoughtful discussions. They read. They like learning. They enjoy exploring new things. Some notes: I don’t like loud, bright ‘cartoon;-like colors – i.e strong reds, greens, etc. The logo colors and text can be changed. Please do not include any special emphasis on “Los Angles” in any part of the design (i.e. no Hollywood sign, palm trees, etc) . This website is not about Los Angeles – it is about reinventing education through collaboration. Thank you!
