niko1Q got their new web page design by running a design contest:
Website design for a video conferencing & gaming service

Games & Recreational
Playpad allows friends, family & coworkers to play casual games (for example, card games, charades, jigsaw puzzles, Flappy Bird-style games, etc), over video chat. Combining a video conferencing service like Zoom or Google Meet with a casual game site like Kongregate.
1. We are using Google's Material Design principles (https://material.io/) - all designers in this contest must follow Material Design guidelines. 2. We want the site to work as light / dark (again, per Material Design guidelines). 3. Design must be as simple, clean and light as possible (while retaining a feeling of "fun" and whimsy, using the colored dots of our logo where appropriate) - we are a games / video conferencing service, and those elements will provide the action / engagement, the site itself is merely the container for the games and should not distract. 4. Design must follow the essence of the brand we've established with our logo design (see attached file). 5. While this design is for a website on desktop web, over time it will need to work as a desktop app as well as a mobile app - so the design should ideally keep that flexibility in mind. 6. We need a homepage design, and the main gameroom design for this contest. The homepage should showcase a stylized version of the gameroom in a looping video (see for example https://bunch.live/). 7. The gameroom should include specific elements in specific places: a) a brand area at the top left b) A vidcon area (up to 16 video chat windows) in the top area c) a game/friends navigation area on the left and d) a main gameboard in the middle (see attached files).
1. Homepage - a landing page communicating the value prop, with a large looping video of a stylized version of the main gameboard page, showing players video chatting and playing games, an area for marketing copy, and a call to action button "Play Now!" as well as a field next to it to enter a room code (basically the same as Google Meet). 2. The main gameboard page, featuring a jigsaw puzzle game in progress in the gameboard area. In the vidcon area, several people chatting. In the game navigation area, a few different game icons (designer's choice, but we are also looking for a consistent design for the game icons).
This is a fun service, meant for friends & families to play games together and have fun. Don't be too serious (even though Google Meet is an inspiration, that is clearly "too corporate" for what we are going for). But do keep it clean, modern, accessible and incorporate Material Design best practices.
