Jenvironmentalweb got their new web page design by running a design contest:
website design for Jones Environmental, Inc.
Check out Jenvironmentalweb's Web page design contest…
Our website provides customers with information about our company in terms of who we are, what we do, and how to reach us. The website will also function as an information hub for useful tools and information related to air/soil gas, soil, and water testing / analysis. Our primary audience will be other scientists in this field as well as prospective customers.
Things to be included on every page: A Header Containing the following: -Company Name and Logo -Placeholder for a slogan -Have the background of the banner combine both elements of science and nature either through images or some kind of graphic design. -Phone number, email and address should be present at the bottom of every page - Navigation bar (Horiz or Vert) with links. On scrolling over a link a popup box will appear with additional links for sub-pages. Links to be included: -Home -Services --->Soil Gas and Vapor Testing --->Soil and Groundwater Testing --->Technical Consulting -About Us --->History --->Employees -Resources --->Volatile Organic Compound Index --->TO-15 Compound Index --->Purge Volume Calculator -Discussion section --->Dr. Jones Blog --->Technical Bulletins -Contact Us On every page besides home page should be a navigation area on the side which links to the main and sub-pages of the section currently in. This should be clear and easy to find to ensure that the site is simple to navigate. On every page should be the name of the section currently in including subsection. There should be a button on each page that is easy to locate which will say “Request-A-Quote” which will link to the Request-A-Quote under the Contact Us section. Page 1 - Home Page: Focus: Draw users in with a creative and visually pleasing layout while maintaining a professional look and highlighting main features of the company/site. Looking for a dynamic way of interweaving the following information with science and environmental images / design, to draw the user in as well as advertise key business components. The following information, but not limited to (we would like this design to be scalable should we desire to add pages in the future), should be displayed: -A placeholder for a brief Mission Statement/ Description -Services: ---->Analytical Testing ---->Technical Consulting -Credentials ---->Certifications ---->Praise from high-profile customers ---->Awards -The Jones Advantage ---->Four California State Certified Mobile Laboratories ---->Expert Analyses of Air/Soil Gas, Soil, and Water Matrices ---->On-Site Analyses of Full Range VOCs (EPA Method 8260B) ---->Including Chlorinated Organics, BTEX, and Fuel Oxygenates ---->On-Site EPA Method TO-15, TO-17, and TO-3 ---->On-Site Analyses of Methane and Fixed Gases ---->On-Site Analyses of Fuels ---->Including TPH Gas, TPH Diesel, TPH Residual Range ---->Sophisticated and Robust Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS) ---->Numerous Electronic Deliverable Data (EDD) formats ---->Fuel Fingerprinting and Experienced Data Interpretation ---->Degreed and Experienced Chemists/Staff A section directing users toward our resource section / advertising our “Resource” section of the site (i.e. “Check out our Resource section for helpful field tools as well as downloadable applications!”). An easily found link directing users to the “Contact Us” page of the site. A “Current Topics” section which will have current relevant news and a link to our “technical bulletins” section more information about it. An example of this might be a section that is able to scroll horizontally with the a bold title acting as the link with a brief description next to it. Page 2 - Content Page: We would like for this page to basically be a template for which we could use for all of our various pages. It should fit in well with the style of the home page, but does not need to be as graphic, and also embody elements of both science and the environment. Information and navigation should be clear and easy to use. Page 3 - Discussion/Multimedia Page: This page will basically be the front page for all of Jones Environmental media information. It should include a visually pleasing design that fits in with the rest of the site, and allow for us to post links to our blog pages as well as have a separate sections which will allow us to display youtube videos (not actually play youtube videos on this page, but display a few thumbnails with information that we will link to the actual video).
What to avoid
Site should not look busy or cartoonish.
The main focus of the site is to be an easy and efficient tool for accessing information about, as well as communicating with Jones environmental, and to act as a central resource hub for all things pertaining to ground sampling. Also the attached logo can be broken apart if you wish to use the graphic without the text in some parts of the design.
