Emil1938 got their new web page design by running a design contest:
Website design for ENERGY EFFICIENCY company - your work helps the environment!
Check out Emil1938's Web page design contest…
We develop, fund, operate, and monitor energy efficiency improvements for commercial and institutional buildings in the United States (mostly around Philadelphia). We used to be a venture capital firm investing in energy efficiency companies, and this website update will communicate that we are making the shift from investing in companies to investing in energy efficiency projects. The audiences: building/facility managers, CFOs, sustainability managers, investors, engineers
www.bluehillpartners.com - but this only shows our earlier work as venture capital investors
We will be editing the website using wordpress, so any designs needs to be easily compatible with wordpress and its templates. We aren't super techy so please make it easy for us. If there is another program instead of wordpress that would be equally free and easy, let us know! We want to be able to make updates to the text ourselves when our business grows/evolves. We want to keep the aesthetic and the message very simple and clean, yet energetic and vibrant.
1. Home page: communicates that we used to do only venture capital investing into energy efficiency companies, and now we have combined our expertise in the energy efficiency sector with our know-how as investors to develop energy efficiency retrofit projects and invest directly into the projects. Explains what we do now at a high level: develop, fund, build, maintain and monitor resource efficiency infrastructure improvement projects. (For now, we only offer upgrades for outdoor lighting and for science buildings, like laboratories and vivariums). Explains the value proposition: the building owners use their resources more efficiently - save money, save operations and maintenance labor, save energy - and get performance improvements - better, upgraded equipment that functions better than what they now have, better environmental performance, better safety performance. Since we fund the project, they have no up front cost and they don't pay more than they would if they did nothing. 2. Solutions page: Here is where we really want to explain specifically what we do and the value proposition to the customer. What we do: Needs assessment: determine if the property qualifies for our investment and if so, understand specific and unique needs and desires of the client (including business, facilities, EHS, end-users perspectives) Engineer a solution around the client needs and enter into a 5-10 yr service agreement with Blue Hill Partners Construct: Blue Hill installs the upgrades (we handle project management, permitting, contruction, commissioning so your team can focus on higher priorities – no headaches). There is no out of pocket costs for the client – it’s 100% funded by Blue Hill Maintain: The upgrades are completely warrantied, and all routine maintenance is performed by Blue Hill. Monitor: Using state of the art software, Blue Hill provides infrastructure usage information and analysis that the client can use to make smart operational decisions. Retain: After the service period ends, the client retains ownership of the upgrades and 100% of the savings Over the course of the agreement, Blue Hill is paid a service fee out of the energy savings generated by the upgrade. Today, we offer solutions in two areas: outdoor lighting and science buildings (labs, clean rooms, vivariums). We replace old lights and missing lights with newer, energy-efficient lights and control systems. We replace science building ventilation systems with newer, energy-efficient systems and control systems. The process for doing this: Needs assessment – understand client needs Specification & design – develop a solution that addresses those needs and quantifies performance improvements and financial savings ESA – Blue Hill Partners and the client enter into a long term service agreement Engineering – final engineering is completed Construction – the upgrades are constructed and installed Monitoring & Maintenance – the system is put into use; Blue Hill provides all maintenance on the system and provides usage data and analysis All design, engineering, and construction are funded by Blue Hill. The client has no out of pocket costs. The value proposition for the customer: Use money more efficiently: no capital outlay to upgrade your properties. The cost of the service agreement is never more than the cost of continuing to operate the old system – the client can either share in these savings or apply them toward additional deferred maintenance projects and stay budget-neutral. Use time and personnel more efficiently: We bring expertise in proven, best-in-class technologies for reliable, safe energy-efficient performance. Client doesn’t need to spend time doing weeks of due diligence. Single point of contact for design, construction, and maintenance. Existing facilities team can focus on higher-priorities. Use energy more efficiently: Get the same or better performance with lower energy usage – increasing sustainability and saving money Use your assets more efficiently: Upgrade aging, poor-performing infrastructure eliminates deferred maintenance and makes end-users more satisfied. 3. Generic page: we will use this template for all our other pages. We need a general area for text and an image or two, and we will also need some (0-5) links somewhere (sidebar?) to sub-pages so the viewer can click to a deeper page to learn more about a more specific area. We will use this generic template for pages like: contact, about us, case studies, team, etc
What to avoid
Our service has an environmental benefit because it saves energy, but the buyers usually do it because it makes financial sense, and the environmental piece is a cool bonus. So don't make the theme TOO focused on green, saving the earth, etc. Really what we sell is efficiency.
We will post more info about the site architecture and more detailed info about desired content for each page in the next 24 hours.
