We are in the process of creating a business management platform allowing users in the service industry to manage their business. We have a current desktop application that we are porting to the web and require an interface for the aadministration portal.
We are hosting as 'software as a service' and need the interface to be intuitive and simple to use.
Our target audience are small/medium business in the service based industry. The site will start of as a UK based product but quickly expanding into other countries and langages.
The design should be fresh, simple and corporate following Web2.0 guidlines. The site is similar to freeagentcentral.com or HiRise and it would be worth taking a look at these to get an idea of the kind of designs and screen elements that are required.
When the user creates and account and logs on the system will display their Company Name and also the ability to upload their logo. The site will have minimum Compass180 branding.
The site should be fluid, meaning that it will take as as much space as possible in the browser depending on the size of the users monitor. It will have a footer that always at the bottom of the page when the content does not take up 100% height. If the content is more than the screen height then the footer will be appended to the bottom of the content (i.e below the fold).
Once this page is desinged and we are happy with the general look there will be plenty of work designing other pages for the site on an ongoing basis.
If you have ideas of a logo for compass180 or are able to also do the HTML/CSS then that is a bonus.
The page you will be designing will include all the standard elements after the user has logged in. The screen will be the Customer details screen which I have attached a rough sketch. Main elements will include:
Header - This will include their company name, logo, details of who they are logged in as, link to their account, link to settings and a logout button.
The header will comprise of the main navigation which will be a mega menu i.e. a drop down with lots of other elements inside (See http://www.actionenvelope.com for an example). Some of the main headings: Dashboard, Customers, Jobs, Schedule, Actions, Expenses, Debts, Invoices & Receipts, Financials, Reports, Tools.
There should be a left hand local navigation to enable the user to move between certain pages, and will be used to display other things like last visited pages etc...This left hand navigation may not be present on all pages or should be able to be hidden/shown by the user.
Underneath the main nav bar will be a Help link that is always present (see attachments for example).
The main content will include a title and action buttons. The Customer page will have lots of details like sortable tables, tabs. It should also include examples of an input form, error messages relating to the page and actual box that errored and an example of a modal pop up window.
Any other info required, please ask.
At present we do not have an existing website.
