VotefortheBest.com will be a site where visitors will be able to vote for their favorite restaurants, hotels, spas and more and then discover new favorites. This site will compete with sites like CitySearch and Yelp.
The target audience for this site is 25-65 year old, male and female.
The site needs a very clean & simple, like 99designs.com and other web 2.0. Please see attached wireframe. This site does not follow traditional navigation styles, so it needs to be readily apparent where the user is on the site, where they can go next and how to get back to where they were. In this sense, the breadcrumb navigation are page headers are key.
Additionally, this site is all about voting, so vote tallies and voting buttons should stand out. We would like to incorporate the text callout box from the logo into the page design (maybe to house the vote tallies).
The color scheme is red, white and blue for a tongue-in-cheek patriotic undertone, which should be very slight - no american flags, stars and/or stripes. Tan or gray backgrounds, black outlines, even a touch of green would be welcome.
Lastly, the site should have a bit of edginess and quirkiness to it, but not over the top. i.e. CitySearch is too boring, Yelp is better, but too cluttered. We want a web 2.0 feel, but would welcome a design that stands out from the crowd.
