Entertainment & The Arts
We are a new site built to help people get tickets to cool events. BoxOfficeHero alerts members to event tickets going on sale soon, events happening soon, and deals on tickets for events happening nearby.
http://toronto.justshows.com/ - love the simplicity of the design, basic functionality, seems to work very well. Not crazy about how the information is presented to the user in the grid of events though, seems a bit hard to read, eye needs to jump all over the place. http://www.songkick.com - love this overall design http://www.bandsintown.com - does a great job of capturing the energy of live music and events http://www.5gig.com - very similar to what we are building out for long-term functionality, but they seem a bit too cluttered somehow. http://www.stubhub.com - Stubhub uses a 3rd column (left side) to help users navigate, we're open to this as an option. http://unionevents.com/ - not keen on the color scheme, but like the layout http://www.ticketmaster.com - Ticketmaster and Livenation do a good job of emphasizing their search box, this is something we also want to do to help users find what they are looking for.
Homepage http://www.boxofficehero.com/ 1)Homepage (not built yet) Our Homepage should introduce the box office hero concept which is to say: "We're dedicated to helping you get the tickets for great events at a great price. We don't want you to miss another show. Functionality wise it's similar to what 5gig.com and bandsintown.com, except our focus is on tickets to events instead of "gigs" or "concerts".. we're all about every kind of event tickets! We'd like to be able to highlight recent site activity, such as users who bought tickets, new events added recently, upcoming events the current or other users are attending/watching. We'd like to incorporate a large video and call to action to join now for users who are not logged in. . . . . 2) Search events page: http://www.boxofficehero.com/search-events . The Location, Categories, Buttons etc.. everything can be moved around and changed to make things as easy as possible for the user - we've built something functional but not very pretty or intuitive at this point. More information about events (including city and state where they are happening) can be returned to the user, and we would like to give users enough information to decide if they have found what they are looking for. . . . 3) Single Event Page: http://www.boxofficehero.com/boh-event/35101-one-direction . We want to make sure the user understands the important things: Who is performing, What the event is, Where and When it is taking place, and HOW they can get tickets and share the event with friends and family. . . . 4) Single Venue Page: . http://www.boxofficehero.com/boh-venue/1764-madison-square-garden With an eye to highlighting what is happening soon/going on sale soon at this venue, as well as important information about the venue. We anticipate listing local attractions, places to eat and a link to hotels as well please incorporate this into the design. . 5) My account screen. As seen here: http://www.boxofficehero.com/my-account . . We are big on functionality, and making it as easy as possible for the user to manage their account and subscriptions. We are not looking for a redesign of the wordpress profile system or pages - we are building our own interface to these functions - this is your chance to fix all that is wrong with user profile pages and preferences :) . . We have not yet built out the functionality surrounding favorite artists, favorite venues and events which the user is watching or is interested in attending. Please incorporate an area on the profile page which shows artists, venues and events that the user will be attending or is interested in. Additionally include space for the user to optionally connect their twitter and facebook accounts. . . . . . For (Items 1-5) remember: . **** You can reposition any and all data that is on the page **** Get creative, make us proud! . . . The sidebar: We can customize the content of the sidebar on each type of page, and can pull in related information about the event, artist and venue. Make use of this in your designs. Please also provide a fast and appealing way for users to share the current page using major social sites (minimum facebook, twitter, g+, Pinterest) . Alerts and messages - We're open to creative ideas and ways of alerting the user when good things happen (password changed successfully) and when not so good things happen: A site Error occurred/404 page, etc. Please incorporate these into your designs. . Color Scheme - we are adopting a red gold and white color scheme, color values are still flexible, however we're using a logo which is attached. to the contest. . Please incorporate these or complimentary colors into your overall design. . . . * * The site should present dark text on a light background to users to help with readability. * *
Your goal is to create a design for our desktop and tablet users: making the process of finding and browsing events as simple and engaging as possible. We fully intend to implement this design with a FLUID WIDTH LAYOUT - so it must scale to smaller and larger desktop screens as well as the iPad.
