Justin.tv
We are Justin.tv, the largest live video site on the web attracting over 30 million people a month worldwide. We recently launched our first content themed subsite about Video Games at http://gaming.justin.tv. Now, we're looking for some one to help us design our Music subsite.
At Justin.tv, our goal is to support the internet's live video broadcasts. We allow anyone to broadcast, watch and interact around live video for free. Users from around the world broadcast everything from news reports, religious services, video games, or just sit around and chat. We also have many musicians broadcasting music content to the site, whether they are playing a gig, doing a fan chat, or just hanging out on line.
Justin.tv is based in San Francisco and is a relaxed and fun startup environment. We try hard to make it a fun place to work, and are constantly trying to figure out how to make live video broadcasting and viewing a better experience for more people.
If we pick your music theme, there is an opportunity for additional work later on other Justin.tv subsite themes.
Many musicians and artists use Justin.tv to broadcast live to the web. Recently, we've had broadcasts from Kristinia DeBarge, Forever the Sickest Kids, Chris Brown, Diane Birch, Paz and more. In order to address the growing music community, we've decided to release a music themed subsite that will live at music.justin.tv.
The theme should address two markets: 1) fans who are looking for music related live video broadcasts by their favorite artists, and 2) artists who want an innovative way to promote themselves to their fans. The theme should immediately be recognizable as a place for music related content. Content currently broadcast to Justin.tv includes fan chats from artists and live concerts.
We have very straightforward requirements for the theme. We need:
- one theme for the header which will appear on all music.justin.tv pages. The logo should be different from the main Justin.tv site and say "JTV Music". The "Live Channels" button should have a highlight on mouse over.
- one front page background. The front page has many content examples on it. You do not need to do anything for the center column -- that will remain the same style as the main site. Example of front page: http://justin.tv/
- one directory page background. The directory page contains lists of live video. You do not need to do anything for either center column -- that will remain the same style as the main site. Example of directory page: http://justin.tv/directory
Examples of our Gaming subsite can be found at http://gaming.justin.tv (front page) and http://gaming.justin.tv/directory (directory page). The directory and front page backgrounds can and should be 99% the same with only slight differences. Bonus points for differences that are actually relevant to the differing content and purpose.
We're excited to see what you come up with! We'll be doing more subsites in the future and are looking to use this contest as a vehicle for finding someone to work with on a continuing basis.
