WebImage got their new web page design by running a design contest:
Snazzy web project estimator
Check out WebImage's Web page design contest…
Corporate Web Image, Inc.
This is a utility web application that will allow web design/development prospects in my area to request estimates. The design needs to be thoughtful and appealing to non-savvy web users.
There are two audiences: 1. Prospects - These are people looking for web design work in my area 2. Services providers - Service providers (aka vendors) will respond to prospects' requests via a web form in the service providers area.
1. Make it SUPER easy for prospects to request an estimate for their project. 2. Make it easy for me (and potentially other service providers) to respond to estimate requests. 3. The site should look less like a standard website, and more like a simple-to-use website tool. LOGO Attached you will find rgblogo.jpg. Originally I was thinking that the primary color for the site would be golden yellows. Now I'm not sure that is the best color choice. Feel free to change the logo to whatever color works for the design you create. STYLE 1. Colors - completely open. Monochromatic feel with accent color - similar to AwesomeJSOrderScreen.jpg. The aqua blue is nice. I also like the blues/purples in VisualStudio.jpg. The attached logo file is a yellowish/golden color, but you can completely discard those if you would like. 2. Buttons - see ButtonStyle.gif 3. Form fields - see AwesomeJSOrderScreen.jpg 4. Background - I'm not positive on this, but I think I want some sort of stylized background image (stock photography from istock.com is fine). If you can make the design interesting without a crazy background, then by all means do! FINALLY Be creative and ask any questions you have.
Number of pages
The questionnaire will have six sections (see Buffalo.jpg for an example). 1. Introduction - (1) a brief message describing the site (~10 words), (2) how much it costs, and (3) why it costs money for prospects (which obviously goes completely against the industry standard and other similar sites). Please do whatever looks best for #2 & #3 here. They can be in the form of a question and an answer, or just a question with some sort of popup when the question is moused over. 2. Design 3. Features 4. Hosting / Maintenance 5. Payment 6. Thank You The form fields should be stylized instead of normal boring fields (AwesomeJSOrderScreen.jpg). I will use a jQuery style slider to switch between sections. For the mockup, use the following sample questions: 1. Is this a brand new site, or an existing site? [shoukd use large buttons like LargePushButton.jpg 2. Design inspiration. Enter three websites that should inspire the design, or that are similar to your project. [field type = (3) Single input] 3. Do you want to include a content management system? [field type = Yes / no button(s)] 4. If so, do you have a preference for a specific CMS (check all that apply) [field type = Checkbox; Items: Drupal, WordPress, Other [Single line entry]] 5. Is there anything else we should know about your project? [field type = Multiple line input] Ideally, each section will have some sort of help to describe each fields. This can be in the form of tooltips, side bar, or however you see fit.
