Homepage: I want the homepage at http://www.smartfutures.org to be cleaned up a bit so it looks professional and matches what you come up with for the main dashboard and related pages. We want a clear simple layout that presents to overall goal of the platform buy doesn't "give away the store" by presenting too much detailed information. We are in the process in integrating what used to be 4 separate programs into this one integrated platform so this site should reflect one platform. I can later add attrtibutions for the separate programs as I see fit. The main components are a login area, an instructor and student registration process, and a teacher code request. I like the format of including most of the info on one page.
Student Dashboard main menu and home page: This is the most imporant aspect of the project as the design of the menu navigation will go a long way to making sure users understand the process and navigate easily. I want to convey a clear, linear planning process with the dashboard design itself educating and reinforcing the idea of the career planning process "Who are you? Where are you going? and How to get there?" navigation should be smooth. The interface should be designed as if a student with a reading/learning disability were using it...clear, simple, minimizing the amount of text whenever possible. the home page serves as a control center, directing the student to complete the next task, alerting them of messages, and giving them other options. The page will need to contain a user icon an menu and another menu that allows existing users to enter any of the independent programs. So if a student knows the individual program they want to enter they go directly there.
The Career Card: The challenge is making so much data available without overwhelming the participant, most often a k-12 student but could also be an adult. The layout should no scare kids away from the data. It should be laid out as simple as possible and allow the student to dig deeper as they see fit to do.
Programs and Majors Card: Same as above. Cards should have a similar layout but design should make it clear whether the card reflects a career, a program or a cluster.
College card: need our own design to display the data from the College scorecard listing. https://collegescorecard.ed.gov/sch…on-College
