DorianSkoosh got their new web page design by running a design contest:
SkooshKarma needs a bold & innovative registration page

Travel & Hotel
A member's only hotel booking site.
These are our main competitors (not that I want to copy their styles but for comparison): http://www.tripalertz.com/pages/curtain http://www.voyage-prive.co.uk/login https://www.vacationist.com/ https://www.tablethotels.com/privatesale/ http://www.sniqueaway.com/ The last one is my favourite design. These are my favourite sites: www.groupon.com registration page - for the simplicity of design www.twitter.com ditto http://www.15gifts.com - for its individual design and clear navigation. www.skoosh.com Initially, the design of Skoosh Karma will be based on Skoosh itself to make the transition easier for existing customers. And not too many others. Skoosh Karma is a consciously new way of doing business and that should be reflected in the design.
We're looking to have our registration page designed for 2 different sets of visitors. 1. Our existing Skoosh customers. We're asking them to migrate over to Skoosh Karma, our members only site. As they've booked on Skoosh before they're familiar with our design and we're 'simply' asking them to register again on our new site. For this group the emphasis should be on the lower prices they'll get as a member. 2. Referred customers. These guys won't know Skoosh at all and won't necessarily even be looking to book a hotel. Whilst we can re-use the design elements from (1) above, the emphasis here should be on the brand which is essentially simplicity and transparency.
I have attached 2 screenshots of the basic design. In the first iteration we only want the first element - the members' prices - to be displayed. Once we have some traction we'll move over to the new registration page which will have both the 'vital signs' and the member's prices merged into the one registration page. We also need icons so that we can link to Skoosh in the press including: bbc.co.uk FT.com www.bloomberg.com http://www.telegraph.co.uk/ http://www.dallasnews.com Where it says 'not a Skoosh member' we need to show a dialogue which says: 'We've just opened up Skoosh Karma to our loyal Skoosh customers. If you'd like us to give you a shout when we're open to everyone please give us your email address'. This could be a lightbox, drop-down or similar. For the line at the bottom ('You don't have to Love us to Like us but it helps') the 'o' in 'Love' should be a continuation of the two 'o's in the Skoosh logo to make it into a heart as it was originally. When visitors mouse over the question marks next to each of the Vital Signs we'd like to show in more detail (though only a small amount of text each time) how the numbers are calculated. We're thinking of a iPhone style speech bubble or similar. Overall we'd like the design to be as simple as possible and, unless some sort of background image is required (to convey friendliness, for example) then white should be fine. We're not trying to appeal to everyone. We're challenging the way hotels are sold online so it should appeal to people who are excited to try something new and different. The format of Skoosh Karma further down the line will be a brochure - as in the old style travel brochure - but with a modern take on it. If you can somehow get the brochure style format for the registration page without it looking consciously retro that might work here. Finally, and by no means least, we aim to amaze our customers every step of the way so feel free to amaze us ;)
