markbaa needed a new web page design and created a contest on 99designs.
A winner was selected from 18 designs submitted by 7 freelance designers.
This is a web design for a church. We have a logo, wireframe, site structure and logo. We just need someone to put a bit of design finesse around it, if that makes sense, rather than a from the ground up design.
CCC Balmain
There is an existing site, http://www.cccbalmain.org which is functional but not great. The new site is under construction at http://test.cccbalmain.org/, which you can see is rather.... well, under construction. However, the structure has been created and has been extremely thoroughly thought out and based on thorough research. This is no fly by night "oh I think this will be good" job. The fairly complete wireframe/structure is at http://www.useyourweb.com/cccbalmain/. This IS more or less final, definitive, and decisions can be made on this structure. However it is a wireframe, and no design hints should be taken off it, it is purely about structure and content, NOT about layout/design.
We can go to 1024 pixels wide, how to present the navigation is part of your job.
We will be using the template you can see at http://test.cccbalmain.org/, but modifying it heavily to accomodate your design. While you can use that as inspiration, and that is our preferred structure, if you have ideas that fall outside that, don't let it be a hinderance.
- The church is in Balmain, Sydney, Australia. Balmain is a very trendy, inner city suburb. There's lots of artists, a diverse mix of very wealth and working class people. Lots of hip cafes, trendy bars, etc. A mix of modern and very old. The design should reflect that. Here's some photos of Balmain that I think represent it well:

- We are after something relatively clean/minimal, but feel free to interpret the Balmain feel as you think is best
- The target age group is mostly 20s and 30s.Noteable church sites:

The first point is the most important, we are our own church, not another church. Those links are for broad inspiration only. The strongest design theme of the site needs to be friendly. The photography will emphasise this. See the wireframe for information about what photos will go where. We are doing the photos, they are underway now. Please use the existing logo. Style guide says this should be kept on a white background. We can be compelled to bend this rule if the design is good enough :)
- Stock photos of people should be avoided, as the photography has been considered carefully. Other stock photos are fine if appropriate. We will pay reasonable amounts for stock photos if needed.
