We are a quote/order management application for the contract furnishings industry. We help furniture dealers be more productive through all aspects of the sales and delivery lifecycle.
We want to stay on a similar blue theme that is present in our existing web page, but it doesn't have to be exact. We want to use our newly designed logo (attached). The private internal application will likely not be updated, so we want to keep a similar theme for some consistency throughout, but there is definitely a great deal of flexibility on this effort. We want the page to be flexible so that it can fit into an adaptive grid based system. We do have customers that use mobile and tablet devices, so we want to be layout friendly for those users. In our existing site, we were very conscience of lots of white space, but there doesn't need to be the same level of whitespace. More color can be used, specifically in segmenting between sections. Generally speaking though, text should be on a light or white background.
What to avoid
A clean design is nice. So things don't need to be cluttered. One of the things that we hate about our existing site is just the overwhelming amount of content - specifically on the features page.
In case you can't read the FCC_Website.docx, here is the contents. It's the content for the main tease, some referrals, and all of the features content.
