Redesign a Clunky Educational Website into something Beautiful

Academy for Thinkers is an after-school college preparatory programme that focuses on rigorous academic development in English studies. The school itself has classes from K-12, with attention specifically tailored to critical thinking and independent studies. I'm looking to completely redo my website so it's cleaner, sophisticated, and intuitive.
I really love the Pembroke College website and would like to emulate it as much as possible. Here's a breakdown of what I'm looking for. I like that most of the information on the landing page is visual and the images chosen are warm -- not just the tones but of the images themselves, which seem intimate and inviting. I'd like my school colours to be represented, so instead of Pembrokes baby blue, the maroon will be replaced. I like the look of the white text against the blue and would like to copy that. With the headers for the titles in the same maroon as the school's colours.
Please refer to the Pembroke College website if you need to visualise some of the components I'll be detailing below. + denotes a secondary link, etc. Landing Page with 3 visually different pages (A, B, C) Landing Page Upper left hand corner, School's logo (attached) Upper right hand corner, Search Icon and drop down menu Drop Down menu contents: + AFT About + Study Here ++ Current Offerings ++ Courses ++ Applying + Current Students ++ Policies and Procedures ++ Term dates (calendar) + Online Large Image and a Welcome note Four boxes with different images in the background for each Box 1: News (title) with a short text that says: Find out about what's new with AFT. While I obviously have a very particular layout in mind, I am still open to ideas. My main issue with so many other educational websites is it's just too busy. I like the visual information that the Pembroke College website provides, making it look cleaner and more sophisticated. That said, I am open to other ideas and suggestions (I have been pleasantly surprised before!). If you think an idea would better suit my needs and what I'm trying to convey, by all means, share them with me! Additionally, based on the kinds of stock images chosen, I may decide to stay with stock images or choose to hire a photographer to add a more personal touch: I would infinitely prefer stock images as it means I can bring the website live sooner. If using stock images, please choose a diverse selection of ethnicities (when I've used them, the majority have been Caucasian students and I do not want my potential clients to assume I only teach to this demographic) to represent my school.

Gabriel is a very talented designer of web and graphics. The communication from him was excellent. I appreciate his attention to detail and the way he lays out a raw message in a way that makes the UX very easy to read and understand. I highly recommend hiring him.
Along the way, they met lots of talented designers…
