Excellent work! Does great suggestions to improve projects, quickly makes changes based on feedback. 5/5!
I really felt that he was a local hire he was so attentive to our project and happy to be working on it.
Organized, detail oriented, ambitious, (runs his own design collaboration and prototyping site-amazing workflow there) and skilled. I would not hesitate to hire him again for any project.
Really smart and fresh design that considers user experience as well as aesthetics. Implementing these new looks on our website was very straightforward thanks to a lot of good strategic thinking up front, which is reflected in the comps. Thank you!
How erica d1 started their web page design journey
Who are you known as?
Tell us a bit about who you are and the people you reach
Apache Friends is the home of XAMPP, the most popular open source, ready-to-run *AMP (Apache, MySQL, PHP and Perl) development environment. It offers free installers for Linux, Windows and Mac OS X and is widely used by both developers and designers to create local development environments.
What industry do you think your business is most related to?
What do you have in mind for the style and theme of the web page?
We really would just like to see a more modern, clean design that makes it easy for people to understand what we do and why they might want to use XAMPP. We prefer flat design, a white background and would like to use the following colors:
dark grey (footer): #333333
body text: #555555
We'd like to implement the design using a front-end framework such as Bootstrap or Foundation. So designs need support such an implementation (albeit with customizations etc.). The design needs to keep in mind that the coded website will need to be responsive and work in desktop and mobile environments.
Our primary goal with this re-design is to bring the most important content to the homepage and to refresh the site. Note that there will be several more pages that will need to be done and we will contract those after the designer is chosen via the 99Designs contest.
For the contest, we would just like re-designs of the home page and the XAMPP page.
For the home page, we want to include:
- An explanation of what the project is
- Links to download the most recent version
- a list of benefits for why you might want to use the project
- a place for a banner to make announcements (new releases, special offers, etc)
- (potentially) a list of the currently bundled components and versions
- (potentially) a list of recent posts from the discussion board
For the XAMPP page:
We will use this page to give a more in-depth explanation of the project and will probably keep the content roughly the same.
Overly complicated designs that would be difficult to implement with a popular CMS (such as Drupal or WordPress). We'd also like to avoid any design elements that would slow down the loading time (huge graphics, etc) and do not want a very dark background.
If this goes well, there will be a lot more design work that could potentially come with it. Also, your work will be seen by millions of web developers and designers!
