hrdittman got their new web page design by running a design contest:
Quirky wine enthusiast blog design
Check out hrdittman's Web page design contest…
Food & Drink
Wine, beverage and food enthusiast blog
Please see attached reference deck for a style draft. Inspiration is quirky/whimsical/colorful design with a 50's/60's flare.
Not currently wed to attached draft/materials, but would like to use them as inspiration/ a jumping off point for a more dynamic design. Looking for a 2-page design for an enthusiast wine/beverage/food blog Page 1 (drafted mockups on following pages): home page Navigation About 2 blog snapshots Social media plug-in Subscribe section Page 2: Blog 1 (Poring over Pourings) article repository / landing page (with filter function) Page 3 (identical to page 2, to be negotiated after contest at a reasonable rate): Blog 2 (Paring down Pairings) article repository / landing page (with filter function – same design as Blog 1 with color, etc. modifications)
What to avoid
Please see attached materials
Notes: Following 5 pages are design mockups for home page, subsequent pages are design inspiration, photos, etc. Logo / design is a starting point, but not married to any individual component and have not purchased stock photos for current images in use Maybe add whiskey/other bottles to the bottle lineup in logo? All text is place holder text, but will likely be same length Not a fan of infinite scrolling – would like readers to be able to orient themselves quickly on a landing page vs. having to scroll through to see multiple sections Goals: Elevate design Create a design that will be mobile/web/blog friendly - currently a challenge Make sure design/images are not infringing copyrights, etc. Is there a way to only show snapshots of latest blog posts on home page (versus having to put the entire article on the homepage) - if not, is there a way to scroll within boxes on home page (i.e. can scroll through social media section and blog sections while remainder of page stays static)? Not married to Wordpress. Looking for something that can marry 1. design aesthetic 2. readability and 3. backend ease of use. Want to ensure that design will be able to be translated to code relatively easily.

Designers across the globe delivered design magic.

And then… they selected a winner!
Along the way, they met lots of talented designers…
