How gitten started their web page design journey
Who are you known as?
Tell us a bit about who you are and the people you reach
SGM Light is one of the world's leading manufacturers of LED lights for global activities in entertainment (concerts, theatre, TV) and architecture. SGM Light delivers lights for some of the world's most famous artists and bands as well as for international landmarks.
We divide our communications into two segments; entertainment and architecture and in addition to the global homepage, the new website will therefore feature a dedicated subpage for each of the two segments.
In entertainment, the brand and the products are known and the user is trying to select the relevant products for a project.
In architecture, we are trying to establish the brand and inspire the user to find products based on the output – the effect or the application (such as using the product on a building). We also want to show similar projects.
What industry do you think your business is most related to?
What do you have in mind for the style and theme of the web page?
The industry has a rock and roll flair and many competitors use black/dark design. SGM wants to differentiate by having a clean, Nordic, whiter design – and are inspired by apple.
It is a very visual industry. Images, videos are important. SGM has a large archive of images and videos from their projects.
The visitor will mostly use large Mac monitors, low frequency of mobile visits, so there is room for presenting large-scale images / using the full screen width (page width can be 1280).
We expect a difference between the look of entertainment and architecture, with a shared stylesheet. Entertainment can be bolder, architecture more subtle.
We have uploaded brand images, fonts, logos. Input to fonts/style are welcome.
The design guide does not include a color scale. SGM is open to input, however, they prefer do keep it simple, clean, Nordic – and reducing the number of on-page colors will allow the project images to remain in focus.
The company has a wealth of product images and projects images on their current homepage - also see catalogues.
Hi designers - for the next round we have adjusted the competition a bit. We were unable to find a design that completely matched our style, so we are now looking for a designer to complement our internal work. We have chosen the winners based on how well they have already tried to incorporate apple-style designs that we are looking for.
We uploaded a design from our own designer of how the products page will end up looking. Please look at that and adjust your designs to match in style. Still keep brand guides in mind on how to use imagery (the light is concept)
From our own design, note in particular the wide elements, the coloring of bottons, the buttons are rectangular - and there is lots of white spaces. We have also included new websites for inspiration.
Instead of designing the exact 5 pages we uploaded previously, please design architecture-home, entertainment-home, about SGM and Projects-page. New wireframes are uploades and irrelevant wireframes are deleted. So now we are only requesting 4 pages, however, only 2 are the same as in the first round.
