Meddik is a site for people to share advice, resources, and questions with others who are going through similar health experiences.
Target audience: Anyone searching for solid health information. This includes both the tech-savvy and the technological challenged. We're looking for clean, minimalist, and intuitive design.
How the site works:
1.) Home page - A user sees a feed of the most popular shared items on the site, but is given the option to type in a health topic (e.g conditions, symptoms, treatments, procedures, or any other terms related to their health) to refine the health network that they're searching within. Registered users can continue adding topics so that we can best match them to the most useful content for their health picture.
A user can do three things: browse a feed of crowdsourced submissions (remedies, advice, etc) from their health network, search our entire database of submissions, or make a submission themselves. Each item can be boosted (upvote) or marked as unhelpful (downvote) by registered users.
2.) Inbox / Userpage - This is simply a userpage / inbox to show any direct messages a registered user has received. They can also browse items on which they've bookmarked, voted (boosted or marked not helpful), submitted, or commented.
3.) Discussion Page - Every submitted item has its own discussion page. The comments are nested (think Reddit).
I've included a screen shot of our old design. Please disregard some of the UX/UI positioning, but it gives the general idea of our site.
****Only the Home Page is required for the qualifying round.
****PLEASE READ COMMENTS BEFORE SUBMITTING DESIGNS
We've been having trouble figuring how to arrange the individual elements on each page. Included in the screenshots are the sections we want and the goals of each, but be liberal in your rearrangement of them. Please please ask questions if you're confused!
Please refer to the screenshots for notes / design.
The design consists of three pages --
Home Page - There are three versions of this page, but all very similar: when a unregistered user hits it, when a unregistered user hits a topic specific page, and when a registered user hits it. I've included wireframes for each. The feed item area is controlled by the topics listed on the box on the right. Clicking on the submit button leads to a popup / modal.
Discussion Page - See a discussion on a reddit element for the basic architecture. (Or the attached wireframe)
Inbox page - Simpler the better.
*All of the text can be rephrased if needed.
In general, avoiding flowery designs is a good idea. No stock photography please.
The existing site should give you an idea of the simple, clean feel that we're going for.
