Our project is a unique job/employment/career website for the German market that will enable users to sucessfully apply for jobs and (re-)employment.
Instead of simply looking for listed jobs, users will be able to generate their very own profile incl. their CV, experience, documents, photos etc.
Employers will be able to browse candidates and get in touch with them directly without having to wait for an application from the candidate.
Additionally, the system will auto-suggest eligible candidates to employers that fit their profiles ("matching").
Users also have an option to have their CVs, letters etc. checked by the system for errors (e.g. spelling) and improvement potential. This can happened automated as well as via a personal consulting project carried out by our career advice team.
To sum it up, the project will combine features from social networking sites, job listing sites and career advice sites.
The project will cater NOT mainly to academics but to "blue collar" job hunters such as plumbers, clerks, etc.
Comparable sites that we like are:
absolventa.de
jobs.co.nz.
theladders.com
ivyexec.com
experteer.de
jobleads.de
risesmart.com/consumer
ADD1: The home page should feature a large box that prompts users to instantly register with the site instead of a search form (e.g. absolventa.de)
ADD2: Colour Prefs: darker shades of blue / green. "Timid" colours are generally preferred.
job-seeking persons with low- to mid-level incomes, males, females, young people (16 - 20) that look for vocational training, unemployed people, people that need help crafting a good application,
The site needs a simply, friendly, open-minded design that invites people to join instantly.
- business (and web 2.0) style!
