I have really enjoyed working with Sami Niazi to design a winning landing page for my website. Sami always came back to me quickly, making all the changes I asked for - and the design was excellent. I highly recommend to anyone looking for a professional and competent designer. Good stuff!

How Brainjax started their web page design journey
Who are you known as?
Metis Settlements Life Skills Journey Project
Tell us a bit about who you are and the people you reach
This website provides clear and accessible information on the Metis Settlements Life Skills Journey research project. This is a multi-year research project with 4 funding sources. The website describes 2 life skills programs developed for children living on Metis Settlements in Alberta in a manner that is accessible for community parents and decision-makers. The second objective of the website is to promote the research/academic activities of the project, including program impact and publications.
Target Audience: Metis Settlements - adult community members, parents of children attending our life skills program; Academics - social sciences, public health
What industry do you think your business is most related to?
What do you have in mind for the style and theme of the web page?
I've included a number of files that show off themes that we like.
Theme must include the life skills logo (provided). Colours could complement or be derived from the logo perhaps? we're not too sure on colours..
The site is about metis settlements, perhaps nature scape background?
We're including a number of graphics which are used in some of our brochures. There is a younger kids theme, and a slightly older kid oriented theme. We were thinking perhaps these could be integrated into the button images for the program landing page?
Home Page: (See Home2.jpg)
Idea is to have a menu with 5 items (Home, Projects, Impact, Publications, People)
The menu will require a sub menu as well.
This page will have a write-up area for us to put a blurb of text about the organization.
On the right hand side of the blurb we would like a styled space for a twitter feed.
Below all of this is the main feature of this page, a interactive timeline. This timeline will have years across bottom and spanning line segments (programs) placed on it with the name of the program on top of the line segment.
example timeline feature (similar to): http://www.simile-widgets.org/timel…monet.html
There will be a large 'bubble' container underneath the timeline containing the program information on the left side (text), a vertical divider, and people associated with the project in a list on the right.
People/Contact page: (See People-contact.jpg)
This page is a listing of contact information of all the people in the organization essentially we're looking for a way to list the users, their basic contact information and pictures.
Program Page: (See Project Landing page.jpg)
This is a landing page where the two large projects of the web page will link from. We envisioned a two large buttons with some background images helping to distinguish them. The one button is for the program that deals with 7-11 year old kids, the other deals with 11-14 year old kids.
What to avoid
Please do not use the images with drinking or smoking in them on any of the large components e.g. the programs landing page buttons.
No photostock images of metis people as these tend to almost always be inconsistent with the actual population we are involved with.
