Webs.com is a website building and hosting company. Formerly known as 'Freewebs', we have been around since 2001. Founded by three brothers, 2,000 dollars and one server in a closet, Webs now serves millions of people everyday, with over 50 million sites built.
Our users love expressing themselves by customizing their sites with new designs and templates. We are looking for templates to enhance our user experience and provide a wider variety of designs for them to choose from.
We appeal to large number of people, making all sorts of websites. Our templates should do the same. Our users build websites to blog & express themselves, to give a home to their group or organization, or to put their business on the web. Accordingly, any template that we use should appeal to as many of our users as possible.
We target those who would normally not be able to build a website by themselves. We want people to be able to create sites that are professional yet personal and look great. Aside from user content, templates provide the personality of the site. We allow users to use CSS to customize any design, but most users will use the template as it was made.
Therefore, we will be looking for templates that are appealing to a large audience, suitable for a wide variety of uses, yet creative enough to be distinguishable--think Wordpress! Abstract designs and those with a modern but fun look & feel often work best.
We are looking for creativity and customization!
These are criteria that that the template design must have:
Title/Header - The template must have a header. This will contain space for a logo, Title and tag line.
Navbar - This is where links on the site will live, these can go to pages on the site or to external sites. There can be any number of links in the Navbar, and so it must be able to scale well. This navigation menu can be either vertical or horizontal. Additionally, the Navbar must be below the header.
Content Area - This is where users can put text, images and video. You should design the size and background of the content area. You should include example titles, paragraph text, and bullets in your design to define how these should look. Users create 'Content Boxes' which have titles; you should design how these would look and match the overall template. This must be at least 600px wide.
Sidebar - This is a content space separate from the Content Area, which sits alongside it. It can go on either the left or the right. It will contain custom and widget modules. The user has the option to turn off the sidebar, so you should make the template presentable with or without a sidebar, (We do encourage users to turn on their sidebar).
Footer - Straightforward, customizable by the user, text only.
Please see the attached screen shots, and we suggest testing some of our templates out by creating a free account.
