We sell over 100,000 spare parts for all types of vehicles through Ebay and our physical stores. We are expanding our reach via an online store and aim to target anyone searching for parts for vehicles in particular 4wds.
The eventual aim is to wind back ebay operations and focus on the website.
We want to completely revamp our website and bring it inline with web2.0 standards. The new website will be designed in such a way that the "online shop" is independent of the main site in the backend, but seamlessly integrated from a frontend visitor perspective.
The new site should have a clean look and integrate with facebook/twitter.
As an ecommerce site the following elements should be visually prominent:
- featured items from the online store
- safe and secure website with SSL, Paypal and Credit Card payments
- Australian owned and operated with a local superstore for customers to visit in Melbourne
- the site should encourage people to sign up to the newsletter (KEY SECONDARY CONVERSION)
- the site should be designed around "Search" and search bars should be prominent to encourage customers to look for products they want.
Also best practice should be adopted for color schemes and where possible evidence used to back up the choice of color. For example if you think the buy now button should be red and not green, try and find an A/B test where this has been shown to be more effective.

- elements we want on this page are as above. The crucial aspect here is to encourage people to BUY from the site with other conversions (fb, newsletter, contact) being secondary.
- the site must look very trustworthy and have room to put relevant content on the site (such as latest news)

Of the elements currently on the page, we will be looking at retaining most of the content (albeit refreshed a bit). The general color scheme must still be kept but can be modified to suit the content somewhat.
All icons, menus and fonts are on the table and can be changed. We are also partly open to changing the logo, the Yellow Kangaroo sign must be kept as is and the same with the text, but the font and actual layout of the logo can be changed. In fact a more suitable font for the logo would be worthwhile (and it should fit in with the rest of the site).
Note that the new site will be integrated with an ecommerce site running SP-Cart so we may have some limitations in terms of design (see the ecommerce site to have a general idea)

I would like our design to incorporate these colours where practical. I dont like a design to be to clutered.
