How Anamigo started their web page design journey

UPDATE: We like the direction this is going, however we are yet to be blown away by any of the designs. So lets step it up to another level: The prize has just been doubled and the first design that blows us away will end the contest and receive the prize.

***JUST IN: If you know someone who's designs are out of this world, invite them to blow us away, because if they succeed. They just need to mention your name as the reason they are in the contest and you will be awarded an additional $500 for finding them. That's Right!

Designing a landing page that speaks for itself. This is acting as a blueprint for the site so the designs you submit should reflect a style that would make users want to come back as well as understand what they can do in a visually aesthetic manner. Winner of this contest would win long term project assignments.…geScan.jpg

Brand name

What inspires you and how do you envision the design for your business?

Anamigo is a new social network designed to give people a place to create a public profile for their pet. People can upload and share photos, videos; write blogs, seek advice from professionals and other interested people, and soon have an open community to find answers to all things pets. As we grow our functionality, such as 1-click submission to local police and organizations for a lost pet; we want people to come join our community and get to know us and other pet lovers. The homepage is a window into our community. It should reflect clean, modern and full of information, both entertaining and helpful. Most importantly the homepage should be intuitive and reflect the best in class for design and navigation.

Review and relate to the site thoroughly. The about section located at the bottom should be a sufficient summary of our site, but ultimately it is an onestop pet destination site. Contest participants will need to navigate through the site to get a feel of what the site currently offers to deliver a dynamic homepage look. To start the canvas you have is 2/3 of the site from the left side. The remaining right side with blue tab navigation will be left untouched. From the homepage perspective the workable area you have is the white background portion. The most crtical and attractive portions of the site must be viewable in a standard 1024x768 display.

The navigation tabs on the top the following tabs should be created: home, explore, help. For the explore tab, use the same rounded tab shapes as it is currently formed in. Design the explore tab so that when clicked on, the categories of: profiles, photos, videos, blogs, news, forums, groups, pet services will appear in a drop-down box.

The aforementioned categories should be included in the main page itself with a viewer conveying visually to the users that these functionalities exist.

Sections of the homepage should be used as a snapshot of what happening throughout the site, best of and featured blogs, photos, videos, etc. There should not be an overload of information, photos should be large enough to see, videos should be coherent from photos, blogs should be positioned to attract the eye (which should include the user image), and each section should either work compartmentalized on the page in a very clean and cohesive manner or share a dynamic common space where a photo or video is enlarged in a dynamic portion of the page.

The welcome to Anamigo with the paragraph should in your homepage design.

Another added element is creating a marketing section for contests should be mocked up as well. (i would limit it to 2 banners type mockups and 2 lines max of text describing each)

The last element of the site should include: “what you can do on Anamigo. Build on the currently points made on the lower left hand portion of the homepage site.

Play on the fact that i have only 10 seconds to look at the site so tell me a fascinating and compelling story with your design.

Lastly, what i do want is an open flow of conversation so we can be on the same page if you have questions. Good luck to all.

Don't want

*lack of attention to detail. Every button you make linkable should be apparent to the user and defined very simply by viewing. By this i mean if i were to land on the page, i should be able to tell what the site is, what it does, and how to do it in your design.

•do not include a “member’s login” box.

•do not leave any dead spaces in the design work.

•do not make mismatched fonts and coloring schematics. If you are changing the entire look to different color schemes there should be an overall purpose and intent, otherwise stick to the color feel of the site. I don’t mind different color hues or representations of the blue or your intepretations as long the messages are clear.
