Pcollins1 got their new web page design by running a design contest:
Help Quompare.com with a new website design
Check out Pcollins1's Web page design contest…
quompare.com is an exciting new social community for comparing business products. Any space can be analyzed and compared whether it is the email marketing space, the nosql software space or the enterprise sms space. Analysts are encouraged to own a space and moderate the content in the space. Analysts become like rock stars and will hotly compete to own a space. Companies are encouraged to keep the information in their space up to date. quompare is a lot like a social community and so draws a lot of inspiration from quora, facebook, linkedin and google+. The target audience is business professionals. The site's main goal will be to prove to these business professionals that the content is of high quality.
The design is a very information centric design. So the design should be very subtle and almost appear invisible. I would like to make great use of some cool, but basic fonts. The site will have no photography or illustration. The site will appear very flat and textureless when it first loads. The texture and color appears mostly on roll-over. For instance, when the mouse rolls over the top menu bar, different elements will transition in and have interesting transparent effects and some added color. Color should be used very minimally, mostly as subtle highlights. Color will be used on the main actions like "follow" or "Signup" and on rollover. Here is an idea for my logo. I think I might stick with this logo, but I'm open to suggestions for new logos. http://bit.ly/UP2AqF I don't think I like the purple anymore, please feel free to suggest alternate colors.
Here is a link to a mockup of the Space page: http://bit.ly/VtPeN9 (here is an alternate layout http://bit.ly/TWtk8H) The Space page is where a user can see the overview of the Enterprise SMS Providers space. This is not the home page, but is one of the most important pages on the site. You will notice that the "United States" link when hovered over is illustrating a region "callout"-style drop down. Much like appears on Quora or Linkedin. Just to be clear, here is the same page, without the region callout: http://bit.ly/Vy560D The Space page is the only page I need designed for now. You can adjust the spacing of the wording and layout if you want. This is just a rough mockup. Please include a footer in your mockup! Please include the "United States" callout drop down!
