How syedkarim started their web page design journey

Company name

GigNinja - no website yet, that's why we're holding this contest!

Overview

We are GigNinja! Our goal is to connect people in search of quick gigs with those in need of having work done right away. In some respects, we're similar to Craigslist's "Gigs" section, but without the worry or hassle of having no one respond to your post or--even worse--having someone flake out on your at the last minute. (Don't you just hate it when that happens?)

We are in the process of building a business and website that addresses the needs of the time-sensitive short-term labor market. The types of jobs that we will be posted on GigNinja are:

Helping someone change a tire on the side of the road
Local delivery and courier service
A quick hand in moving a couple pieces of furniture (like a big screen TV)

The one thing that all of these jobs have in common is that they require no specialized skills; the types of gigs posted on GigNinja are things that anyone could do. But what sets us apart is the fact that we maintain a list of diligent workers who are interested in doing this kind of work at a moment's notice.

To get a better idea about who we are and what we are looking for, please review the logo contest from last month, the winning design, and also the comments that were left for the designers.

Tell us a bit about who you are and the people you reach

Our initial roll out will be in Chicago. We expect that many of the people that visit GigNinja (to get work done) will be busy, urban professionals and small business owners. For this reason, we would like the design to focus on three things:

Clean design
Simple design
Logical design

The goal of the home page is to communicate to the users (both workers and bosses):

What GigNinja is
What others use GigNinja for
How to learn more
How to sign up and post a gig

Requirements

The deliverables for this contest should include the following four pages:

Home page
Page that lists all of the current and completed gigs
Page that launches a gig posting
Page that gives more, detailed information about the service

Please be aware that we aren't looking for any of the text to be filled out--describing and selling our service is our job. What we're looking for in this contest is the design for each of the pages. What kind of font should be used? How large should the text be? Where should text fields be? What colors should be used? It's the aesthetics and template that we're concerned about, not the content.

Another thing that is extremely important to us is the fluidity of the website with the logo:

We believe that the logo *is* GigNinja. We would like for all designs to complement the logo.

One last thing to keep in mind is other services that are operating in this space, the short-term labor market. It's important to review these sites and then create the design based on what works, what makes sense, and what doesn't:

Okay! I think that's about it. Feel free to ask as many question as you like--I'll be watching this contest like a hawk.

Thanks,
GigNinja Master
