A school that specializes in the early years (pre-kindergarten to senior kindergarten)
e.p.i.c. School is a school that specializes in the early years (pre-kindergarten to senior kindergarten) and was founded 16 years ago - as a not-for-profit. I wanted to work in a different kind of school where teachers could work together as a team, where they could challenge each other - always learn and thereby develop a strong, well rounded curriculum based on the latest knowledge of how children learn, what they need developmentally, as well as including the latest scientific research. Our teachers have collectively gathered a great deal of knowledge. The support of occasional specialists - a speech and language pathologist, an occupational therapist have taught our teachers a great deal about the importance of developing solid foundational skills - hence our mission statement: to build a solid, joyful foundation for future learning. ‘Joyful' was added later, and grammatically doesn’t fit very well, but school is hard, learning is hard work, no matter your age, and we want our young students (3 to 6 years) to learn perseverance while also experiencing the joy in learning.
What industry do you think your business is most related to?
What do you have in mind for the style and theme of the web page?
This is a difficult question for me, the reason being is I don’t want to give so many ‘must haves’ that I miss out on a chance to have an awesome site. But that being said, I believe we need a website that is visual ( because so many people don’t read it all and because everyone say’s the same things on their sites. For example, the highly overused word ‘nurture’. It means different things to different people. So lot of pictures to support text - makes it a bit more believable in my eyes.
I think we have a great logo - it is often one of the first ‘words’ our students learn to read and I feel that a site that is too colourful would take away from it. I think the logo should be able to shine. And though I don’t want a ‘cute’ site, I think visual (photos), movement, easy to read text, not too much text, warm and even a bit quirky would work very well for us. We also require a ‘community page’ for our currently enrolled families - a monthly blog, calendar and place to remind families about what is happening at school and upcoming events. We see an app in the future.
This is a Wordpress content management system so we would like 2 or 3 template layouts.

What to avoid
When people ask me what I do, and I respond “teach kindergarten” they usually reply “so cute”. I hate that answer. It isn’t cute, what I (and all our teachers) do is so very important. This isn’t the same kindergarten I went to.
Our competition (of sorts - we are alone in being not for profit amongst the preschools).
