How Jared Broad started their web page design journey
Who are you known as?
Tell us a bit about who you are and the people you reach
We are a community of engineers, scientists, mathematicians (collectively "quants") who are designing algorithms for the financial markets. Our technology provides people all the tools they need to design algorithms and trade it on their brokerage.
We're looking for a fresh blog design. We've hacked together a page now which looks weird and doesn't really fit the style of the rest of the site. We'd like to streamline the style of the blog with the rest of QuantConnect.
What industry do you think your business is most related to?
What do you have in mind for the style and theme of the web page?
#1 - Most important! Line up with the rest of the style of the website!
#2 - Easy to read;
#3 - We have a few different categories of blog. Using some kind of icon or colors to differentiate the different categories might be nice?
Just two pages I think:
1 - Blog landing page / list view of all the entries. The main page where people land when they click on /blog
2 - Single post page / detail/open view of the entry. The opened post - showing the list of blog entries.
What to avoid
- Avoid dropdown menus,
- Color red (doesn't fit QC design).
It should ideally be easy to read. We've noticed our current blog design just "feels wrong". Likely the ratio's of the article etc.
Don't really like stock photos; they mostly make the designs feel generic. I'd prefer if our design felt specific for QuantConnect - professional, crisp but high-tech and focused on this company.
