farverm got their new web page design by running a design contest:
Create a winning website for Birth By Design
Check out farverm's Web page design contest…
My target audience will be mostly three parties: 1) the healthcare/scientific community; 2) the general public/new parents/mothers researching birth, baby care, and breastfeeding options; 3) Christians researching birth, baby care, and breastfeeding related to the Scriptures, parenting advice, and devotional readings for mothers.
Something with eye appeal, not boring, but not too busy. It should be easy to navigate. That is the problem with my current website - I feel it is too hard to get around, that the pages are not easy to find or obvious enough. I like a lot of color, and "buttons" to click to the major topic sections, then on each topic page, also more "buttons" to click to the individual pages that comprise that topic. My current website is too boring as well. I like the 3D look as well. It should appeal to mothers, mostly, as I think this will be my biggest audience. Christian topics will only be a subset, so the front page of the website should be generic, not with a religious type theme. I like to use photos/pictures as "buttons" if possible. I like real photos of mothers, babies, women in labor, birth, etc subjects because I think that has the most draw. I could be described as a modern minimalist who likes color. Fonts I like are Tw Cen MT, Calibri and Arial, in that order. I like type that is large enough to read easily. I appreciate your creativity so feel free to go for it if you have an inspiration! I am not a traditional or flower type of person.
A colorful user friendly webpage that appeals to the public as well as the healthcare community. There will be buttons to guide the user to each of these topic areas: Welcome; Birth; Babies; Breastfeeding; The Designer; For Christians. Each topic area would have buttons to guide where each informational page is.
What to avoid
You can go to my current website. What I don't like about it is that it is hard to read the content - the lines are narrow and you have to scroll a lot to read the content. I would like to use the full screen more. It shouldn't be so hard to read.
I like the search function and having useful links like I do at the bottom of my website; however these links can be at the side. You can use my current logo, but please feel free to come up with something new and different. I like creativity! You can see my content on my current website.
