Wonderful experience working together. The designer was very responsive, and communicated very well. We would definitely look forward to working again in the future!
We were extremely pleased with the work that DesignXUK performed on our recent web design project. Of all the many qualified designers that participated in our contest, DesignXUK was the most diligent about reviewing our requirements document before submitting design ideas. He was also very flexible throughout the design process itself, putting forward very clean revisions on a timely basis.
We selected DesignXUK because the design contest gave us complete confidence in their ability to understand what we were trying to accomplish with our website. Our final design was very complex, requiring many revisions that extended well beyond the contest itself. DesignXUK kept our design clean and uncluttered despite the complexity of our design requirements.
Ultimately we decided to let DesignXUK design and build our new website because we were so confident in their amazing creativity, strong technical skills and consistent work ethic.
The coding requirements for our website were fairly complex, but DesignXUK had all of the necessary technical skills to build the design to our exact requirements.
In the end, we are very pleased with out new website. It turned out much better than even our initial expectations when we launched the contest. We would highly recommend DesignXUK.
How The Webmaster Centre started their web page design journey
Who are you known as?
Tell us a bit about who you are and the people you reach
The website will have two functions: information for the public and application for interested candidates. WHRI Academy is a scheme set up by The University of London with EU funding. The remit is to enable PhD students to take a job in a different country in order to work towards a Fellowship. On the website they will be able to check through the criteria for applicants, then sign in and complete the application with their project proposal.
What industry do you think your business is most related to?
Medical & Pharmaceutical
What do you have in mind for the style and theme of the web page?
Using http://www.colorcombos.com/, the possible colour combinations we liked are 907, 428 and 1261 (but with blue rather than green). For the orange the preference is (hex code) FF6600 and FF8000.
The logo gives a well-established feel with the image of William Harvey, but we'd like to reflect a modern feel on the website. It is for academics, so no need for flashiness! Simplicity and highlighting the written content is the key.
We need a homepage design please. Attached are the logo and a wireframe that we mocked up when planning the website.
The current site is built using the Drupal open source CMS framework (drupal.org) and the design needs to be created as specifically for this CMS as possible. The design needs to be flexible enough for us to apply to different types of pages or content that will be appearing on the site (e.g., blogs, articles, videos, and static pages like contact pages, case studies, etc.). The design needs to be fixed width, clean and simple and ideally around the 960px range. Please keep graphical devices to a sensible level. For any graphical backgrounds that you employ in your design, please be aware that with the Drupal CMS, content and block columns don't always stay the same width or height (e.g. with different font sizes), so please ensure that your design provides extra area for background images to allow for that variability. Please use browser generated, "web-safe" fonts in the main content areas of the site and for buttons, menu links or section headings. Finally, we're looking overall for a design that is graceful in all situations and in most modern browsers (IE, FireFox, Chrome, Opera, Safari), so please don't push the envelope too much We will need the final design supplied as a layered RGB file. We would prefer that in PNG format for Fireworks but will accept a PhotoShop PSD file. Please give all the layers you use meaningful names and remove any unnecessary layers.
Although the wireframe is in this format, if you want to move elements around to fit with your design that is fine. On the Homepage we may not need the second sidebar at all so if you prefer to leave that off please do so.
