sefner 5 got their new web page design by running a design contest:
Create a visual design for new VCTC Intercity bus service in Southern California.
Check out sefner 5's Web page design contest…
The Ventura County Transportation Commission VCTC is a government agency that provides intercity and intercounty bus service. The bus service connects cities throughout Ventura County as well as the Santa Barbara County to the north and Los Angeles County to the south. Target audience would be bus riders that need route, schedule information or trip itinerary information. Most important is that potential riders (people who have not ridden the bus before) can navigate to information easily.
VCTC Intercity Bus, must be designed as a reactive website that can function on desktop, tablet and phone. The graphic elements must take their cue from bus design (attached) and agency logo (attached) and have a visual relationship to the parent website www.goventura.org. Individual page links should be blocked out, large buttons, so that they can be arranged horizontally for desktop use or vertically for phone use. There are six distinct bus routes service areas, each route button should be color coordinated to additional pages concerning the specific route and compliment the overall theme of the page. Must incorporate Blue (from style guide) but does not have to be predominant blue, see attached bus photo. Some pages to be predominantly text and we are open to suggestion on typography, fonts, section headers etc. to keep the information visually interesting, VCTC’s style guide is attached for reference.
Home page: home page should provide clear and easy links for riders to routes/schedule information, trip planning, fares, frequently asked questions and rules of the road Map/schedule page: This page should provide a clear and easy display of route maps and schedules so that riders can understand the geographic area served by the route and placement of bus stops on the route along with tabular information on bus scheduling . Text page: This is a common format for pages that are predominantly text concerning rules of operation, rider’s rights and other static information.
