Biomatters
We sell a software program used by molecular biologists worldwide called Geneious. Geneious is used for the viewing and manipulation of DNA and protein sequence data. Our customers are predominantly scientists working in academic (university research scientists), commercial (biotech, pharma) or government organisations.
Our current design aesthetic is ok for now but we think we can improve on some key pages.
We are about to release the latest version of our software and the ‘mascot’ is a bee. This needs to be incorporated into the front page and possibly the other pages too.
Our colour is orange and we want the website to mirror the key ‘feel’ of our software program which is simple, easy-to-use, clean and friendly.
Homepage : We want a similar format above the fold as we currently have but the fox needs to be replaced with a bee in the top right hand corner of the laptop screen. The bee will be the new ‘face’ of for our upcoming product update. It would be really cool if the bee was animated, for example if it flew off one side of the page and back on at the other side.
The aim of this page is to give new customers a quick overview of our features and capabilities and then to drive them to buy, download or trial the software - so we are looking for a layout that promotes these CTAs.
Buy Page): We have a number of different licensing options for our product across multiple industry sectors so we are looking for a layout that most easily helps the customers find the right option for them. The current table is not that easy to navigate.
We are also open to having more of a sales pitch, social proof, faq, etc on this page to increase conversion.
Download page (ww/download): Aim is to get as many people to download as possible but also to then direct them to their next steps of requesting a trial, buying a licence, etc after download has completed as they are not automatically redirected.
Request trial page (www.com/request-trial): Form needs some work and am also looking to turn this into a more ‘landing page’ style page with some product feature/benefit overviews, faq, etc to help convince customers to sign up. This page is currently only accessed after software download and installation but the plan is to have this as a ‘free trial’ page linked from the home page that customers fill out before receiving the download link so needs to be slightly repurposed.
Features (www.com/features): Looking for a clearer page that better shows off the features. We want customers to either navigate to more details on the individual feature pages or to download/trial the software.
We do not want to see any DNA helixes. We would accept images of scientists if essential but we don’t want it to look too corny. Our product brand colour is primarily orange so don’t want to stray far from that.
