Designers from around the world are submitting creative designs for Contact237 in web page design - silver.
We are a local retail business in Los Angeles which is about to launch. We are similar to craigslist -- except craigslist is all selling to and buying from all; we are all selling to us and us selling to all (in Los Angeles). We have a website up which can give you an idea of what we'd like -- but if it were sufficient we wouldn't be having this contest.
Not sure... "The Things and Stuff" is a pretty quirky, awkward name. And we'll have posters up asking if people want "the things and stuff." So maybe something awkward, minimalistic, etc. -- without making our business seem untrustworthy.
Currently we were using black/white -- but maybe it'd be better to use Lakers colors (purple and yellow). Or red, blue, white (like the LA Dodgers and Clippers). But we plan to expand to other cities, eventually. So... just something good... Maybe green/earthy for recycled goods feel.
Landing page for new comers. Briefly introduce site layout. Also have some text/video resources describing how the whole buying, delivery, etc. processes work. Also, email and social media pages should be available, linked to.
Lists of item pictures with some prices in the corner of each picture. Split into a few different lists of items: featured, new, categories (like on current site). Maybe another category for ads (we will have ad pictures sprinkled in with the item pictures, but a separate category for those who want to see only ads/offers/coupons.
Lists of pictures should change number of columns when web page is made wider/thinner (more columns the wider the webpage; same pic size [though, pic size would change with column numbers when someone zooms in/out)
When you click categories on buy tab, you should see a list of categories somehow (or a menu of some sort), and when viewing items in some of those categories (for example, clothes), there should be check marks or something to allow you to see only some items (for example, only men's clothes, only men's shirts, or only men's shirts Large and XL)
3. Individual item page template
Noting basic info like price, size, brand, etc. of items. More pics of item available. Pics of related items listed. Option to add to shopping cart (they probably won't buy on the site; they'll buy in person like on craigslist).
Some page where people can upload item pics of stuff they want to sell and send us an email about the items they want to sell.
[ON EACH OF THESE FIRST FOUR PAGES THERE SHOULD BE A NAV MENU]
5. Back end upload page
A page that won't be seen by customers. One where we can easily upload pictures and check a few boxes, add a few search terms, and have the site generate pages (e.g., individual item pages) and fill in content (e.g., put new pictures on the Buy page listings, put new pictures as related items on existing individual item pages, etc.)
This page doesn't have to be pretty. It just has to be easy to use and hopefully easy for a coder to build.
